The UOB Libraries are pleased to announce a free trial of The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) including access to:
• Journals: Pediatrics, Pediatrics in Review, NeoReviews, Hospital Pediatrics, AAP Grand Rounds, and AAP News.
• Red Book Online: provides guidance on the manifestations, etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of more than 200 common childhood conditions related to infectious diseases. It also includes immunization schedules.

This trial is valid until October 31, 2023, and it is accessible on and off-campus through the UOB Libraries website under Research Database (https://balamand.libguides.com/az.php).

Ibrahim Farah, Public Services Librarian at the University Libraries has been appointed by the International Federation of Library Associations as a member of the Copyright and Legal Matters Advisory Committee. Ibrahim will serve two years along with copyright experts from around the world to provide key insights to the Governing Board, and so to libraries globally, in matters related to copyright and policy-making, as well as supporting the work of other committees across IFLA.
The Advisory Committee on Copyright and Other Legal Matters (CLM) focuses on questions about the acquisition and use of library resources and effective library services, including copyright laws, and subscription and license agreements. It provides advice to the Governing Board on IFLA’s position and response to emerging issues in these areas.

Ms. Amal Issa, the Electronic Resources and Scholarly Communication Librarian at UOB Libraries, has been selected as the recipient of the "Dr. Shawky Salem Conference Grant" from among 22 librarians representing various Arab countries.
This grant aims to facilitate the participation of an expert in library and information sciences in the Annual IFLA Conference. The conference, which is a significant global event for the library and information services sector, is scheduled to be held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, from 21 to 25 August 2023.

The University of Balamand (UOB) was honored to receive a generous donation from the Indian Embassy in Beirut, consisting of a collection of books on Indian history, culture, politics, arts and cuisine. The collection was presented to UOB Libraries on May 9th, 2023, in the presence of President Elias Warrak; Mr. Sandeep Grover, Charge d'Affaires a.i.; UOB Vice Presidents; COO; Acting University Librarian; and members from the Indian Embassy in Beirut.

The University of Balamand Libraries and HERMES Project joined forces to host an impactful conference on global library services. Distinguished speakers from Italy, Turkiye, USA, and Lebanon's top universities shared their expertise on research sharing and collaboration. The event highlighted the HERMES project's mission to promote access to information resources through publication, software development, and training. The sessions covered a range of topics, from document delivery to TALARIA software and concluded with a panel discussion on the State of Resource Sharing in Lebanon and the Arab World.
