Andre Jin ‘09, SFS Alumnus of the Year in 2022, has been killing it on show Physical 💯! After being part of the Korean Rugby Team at the 2020 Olympics, he continues to make waves wherever he goes.

He sent a special message for the SFS community: “Recently I had the opportunity to compete on Netflix’s Physical 100 season two. For me it was exactly that, an opportunity. An opportunity to compete against some of the most famous athletes in Korea, an opportunity to represent myself as an individual and most importantly an opportunity to introduce to my sport of rugby to a world wide audience. It was an incredible experience and if there is one take away from participating in physical 100, it is that we are capable of much more than what we believe. Thank you all for the support and interest! Now it’s time to look for the next challenge, the next opportunity! Go crusaders!”

We’re always rooting for you, Andre! 💯💯 .jin_

We were happy to see our two recent alumni from the class of 2022, Kai and JD who visited SFS today to watch the Korea Classics Volleyball games!
Kai will join the Korean Military Service following Monday and JD will join to serve in the Korean Air Force in September.
The far right is Luis, a friend of Kai and JD, who used to join SFS for summer camps many years ago and is already serving in the Korean Marines.

We wish God's guidance and protection over these young men as they serve in the Military to protect Korea, our host country.

Enjoy a glimpse of the memorable Graduation Ceremony held last weekend. Each senior confidently took the stage, delivering heartfelt speeches that elicited laughter, tears, and well wishes from the audience comprising of families, friends, teachers, and underclassmen.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated parents who invested countless hours in organizing the Senior dinner and graduation treats.

Furthermore, we express our deep appreciation to Rosie Jon , our esteemed Alumna of the Year. Rosie actively participated in multiple events throughout the week, including the baccalaureate service, awards ceremony, and delivering the graduation address. Her presence and words of wisdom have been truly inspiring to our students, and sharing these cherished moments with her has been an absolute joy.

Edie and Jack Moon are leaving Seoul Foreign School after 35 incredible years. We know that there are many tributes being made, one of them being this lasting book of memories which will be bound and printed as a keepsake for them. They would love to hear from as many people as possible whose lives they have touched throughout all of their years at SFS. They are irreplaceable and legends in their own time. This is another opportunity for those who have not already shared a tribute to do so now. If you have shared a written tribute with SFS previously, it will be included in the book.

Please share a memory or words of encouragement HERE: https://www.newlywords.com/edie-jack-moon

The deadline is the end of May.

Mrs. Woo is retiring after 35 wonderful and amazing years of dedicated service to Seoul Foreign Middle School. She is often referred to as the "Mother" of the Middle School and we know there are many former students out there who have been "mothered" by her incredible kindness and loving nature throughout the years. We are collecting a book of memories that will be printed and bound as a keepsake for her to fondly recall many familiar faces from throughout her time here at SFS. We would love for as many of you as possible to contribute.

Please make a contribution to Mrs. Woo's memory book HERE: https://www.newlywords.com/mrs-woo-is-retiring

“I would like to go back and play piano. I had played the piano between the ages 7-17 but I don't remember much so I am excited to relearn and try again. I've been to a few piano concerts but they were a while ago as well. I enjoy Mozart and classical music. I am also interested in the English

History so I plan to study that more.”

📝: This is Mrs.Koh. The familiar face that had been greeting you as you walked into the British School reception area. She worked at SFS for 32 long years as the Administrative Assistant in the British School until December 2022 and has recently decided to start her new chapter in life in pursuing her love of piano! The SFS community appreciates her and wish her well on this newfound journey.

Today we’d like to recognize Cara Chang, an SFS alumna, who was recently elected president of Harvard Crimson. Founded in 1873, the Crimson is the oldest college newspaper in the U.S. with Presidents John F. Kennedy and Franklin D. Roosevelt among the notable former editors of the esteemed publication.

Cara attended SFS for five years and moved to the US after graduating from Middle School in 2016, and is currently a junior at Harvard University majoring in History. Cara has been covering the university’s central administration as a staff reporter since her freshman year, according to her interview with The Korea Times.

"I'm absolutely honored to lead the 150th guard of The Harvard Crimson…. It has been incredibly meaningful to me that I'm not the first Korean or first Asian woman to lead the paper. I'm so grateful to have had many role models during my time at the Crimson.''

(To aspiring students)"Your achievements are important, but they do not define you," she said. "In my experience, college is more about finding my own potential than my grades or titles. I think it's healthier to approach college admissions the same way.
Think about how you learn and where you can best do that," Chang advised. "And let that be your guiding light."

Diana Princess of Wales visited Seoul Foreign School - British School in November 1992. As a former kindergarten teacher, Lady Di particularly enjoyed spending time with our Foundation children. Ms. Koh, who was lucky enough to be a witness to that special day, recalls the Princess to be a very "beautiful, calm and kind lady". A very treasured memory for SFS.
