All positions provide pre-camp staff orientation sessions, camp apparel (t-shirt/polo shirt etc.), workplace medical insurance & an assured great experience, the latter a given. Also, meals & (shared) accommodation are, of course, provided for the duration of the contract (no private accommodations are available, although this does depend on the location facilities). And no, we don’t pay for/reimburse travel expenses incurred in getting to and from camp; that’s your baby.

All listed salary figures are pre-tax figures. Salaries are - damn - typically subjected to 4.4% tax.

Camp 1 & 3 offer administrative & teaching Head Teacher positions - the Head Teacher will be required to be somewhat prepared for the arrival of the rest of the crew and both administer the pre-camp staff orientation sessions & the day-to-day schedule of the camp thereafter. This is both an administrative and a teaching role – the Head Teacher will be assigned a class. Previous camp administrative and/or Head Teacher experience is preferable if expressing an interest in a Head Teacher position.

VISA APPLICATION CONSIDERATIONS
Now for the boring bit. We can only accept expressions of interest from native English-speaking F- & E-Class visa holders. E-class visa holders must have the appropriate permission from their visa sponsor to get their visa endorsed for camp and will, of course, need to make a trip to their local Immigration Office to seal the deal. There aren’t many but them’s the rules.

TO APPLY
If you are interested and eligible to apply, please send us an email (addressed to [email protected]) expressing your interest to join us. This is our introduction so don’t scare us off - keep it simple & stay on script by letting us know the following:

1. Your (real) name (we know you have one).
2. Your date of birth (we hate asking this, but needs must).
3. Your nationality (you must be a native English speaker from one of ‘The 7’ (the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, New Zealand, South Africa & Australia)).
4. Your present location (city/province), preferably in SK.
5. Your visa type & its expiration date.

We will acknowledge all expressions of interest received (it’d be rude not to) but will only advance with suitable applicants. We may request additional information by way of a short CK-supplied application form and there could be Skype interviews. All will become apparent in due course (we try keep this as BS-free as possible).

Important note: Please DO NOT send us any documentation with your e-mail - no CVs/resumes, letters of reference, letters of qualification, birth certificates etc. We’ve asked nicely. Thank you.

That’s about the size of it. Get in touch, keep up to date with application updates here on our Fb page and hopefully we’ll be welcoming you to camp later this summer!

SUMMER CAMP 2017 || NOW SOLICITING APPLICATIONS

Are you looking to join us for summer fun in Seoul later this year? Yes. Great because we’re now accepting expressions of interest for Summer Camp 2017. Please read the following & contact us if, & only if, you meet the application considerations.

- Camp Name
Daewon International Middle School Camp.
- Location
Junggok-dong, Gwangin-gu, Seoul.
- Dates (You might want to grab a calendar for this part)
July 21 through 8 August 2017 (19-day contract, reporting for duty on the evening of Thursday, July 20 2017).
- Camp & Contract Format
Staff orientation will be on July 21 & 22 with camp proper starting on July 24 & ending on August 8. July 23, 29, 30 & August 5 & 6 are off days for a total of 14 contracted work days. (And yes, that's weekends off. In summer Seoul.) Six hours of classroom time a day approximately ( = you best be a tad flexible) between the hours of 09:20 & 16:20. This is a commute camp meaning the students do not board at the camp; they return home each afternoon. There will be approximately 12 classes with approximately 10-12 elementary students (Grades 1-6) in each class. The camp will be foreign managed.
- Positions Open
Teachers & Head Teacher. If you have camp administration experience and are interested in being considered for our Head Teacher role, please let us know when contacting us. We will furnish interested applicants with more information.
- Staff Accommodations & Notes
Shared accommodation will be provided. Details to follow. No private accommodation options available. A small daily commute will be required to reach the camp location (& a daily walk up a steep hill). No stipend is paid for those Seoul-based applicants in a position to provide their own accommodation.
- Meals
Lunch will be provided on scheduled camps days.
- Salary & Tax Liability
Salary of KRW 2,000,000 which is subject to applicable local taxes (typically 4.4%).
- Provided/Included for the duration of the contract period:
-- Two days of pre-camp staff orientation sessions (July 21 & 22 2017)
-- Camp apparel (t-shirt/polo shirt etc.).
-- Workplace medical insurance.
-- A great experience (we never fail in this regard).

Application Considerations (Visa & Transport)
1 - VISA & OVERSEAS APPLICANTS
The majority of successful applicants will need to acquire the appropriate visa, a C4 visa, to allow them to work in Korea - we also welcome applications from those already with visa clearance, especially F-class visa holders. C4 visa applicants must be citizens of the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, South Africa or the Republic of Ireland & must acquire the necessary C4 visa before arrival in Korea (full visa support will, of course, be provided to all successful applicants). Applicants needing to acquire a C4 visa should only consider applying to us if they are certain they can gather the required visa documents with sufficient time to enable them to apply for the visa at their local Korean Embassy or Consulate General. We request applicants contact their local Korean Embassy or consulate and inquire into the latest C4 visa application requirements. Please note that it is the embassy/consulate that issue the visa, not Camp Korea (we merely provide the documentation required to ‘sponsor’ successful applicants). Also please note that we are very unlikely to advance any further in the application stage with applicants applying from overseas who have not already begun gathering the required visa documentation. Unfortunately delays attributed to gathering visa documentation means successful applicants generally need to pre-empt the offer of a place at camp regardless of whether their application is ultimately successful or not. This is especially true of applicants from the US given the frequent delays suffered by such applicants in securing, for example, the required apostilled FBI Criminal Background Check.
2 - TRANSPORT
All successful applicants must organize and pay for their own transport to and from Korea to meet any contract offered to them, assuming they are not already in Korea. We do not facilitate or pay for transport to or from Korea.

To Apply
If you are interested and eligible to apply please send us an email (addressed to [email protected]) expressing your desire to join us. In the email please let us know the following (ALL & ONLY the following please):

1. Your name.
2. Your date of birth.
3. Your nationality.
4. Your present location (city/town & country).
5. If you need to acquire a visa for camp, where do you plan on applying for the visa (Korean embassy or consulate general location)? If you already have visa clearance, what is your present visa type & when/what date does it expire?

(Note on the above: Yes, we are entitled to ask your DOB so please don't even bother emailing us giving out and crying discrimination over us requesting this from the outset.)

Returning Teacher?
If you are a returning Camp Korea teacher please just send us an email expressing your interest in coming back. We’d love to hear from (the vast majority of) you.

Important note: Sorry to be pedantic, but pretty please DO NOT send us any documentation with your e-mail - no CVs/resumes, letters of reference, letters of qualification etc. Nothing. Thank you.

The Next Steps – The Application Process
This is where we get a tad intimate. In reply to your e-mail we will furnish you with a Summer Camp 2017 Application document that needs to be completed & returned to us - to avoid wasting your time, and ours, we only send this and request its completion once we know you’re aware of the application considerations listed herein. We will acknowledge all applications received but will proceed to interview stage only with select candidates, or about 100% of those who seem 1) rounded and 2) prepared. Very informal shoot-the-breeze interviews, via Skype, will be scheduled for the week of May 15–19 after which offers of a camp place will be extended to successful applicants. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

(An insider's tip. Between now and the week of May 15-19 is over a month. If you're serious about embarking on a trip to camp then we recommend you use this time wisely to prepare. Only prepared applicants make it to camp.)

Finally, as the recruiting season progresses we may have more openings available but as of now we are only actively recruiting for the above DWIMS camp.

Thank you for considering Camp Korea for your next ESL experience & we hope to see you at camp soon.
