One of the reasons why we all want to study in Korea is because of the delicious Korean Food (Hansik.. 🤤) This is my submission for the '2021 Korean Food Video Contest' that all foreigners are welcomed to join! I made my own version of the Korean Army Stew and would appreciate it if you guys can watch it and try it out yourself~ Although this isn't directly related to GKS/Studying abroad in Korea, it is still a Korea-related content and you can all try participating in the competition yourself^_^

We are launching our Document Screening Service! One of the most challenging and important part of any scholarship application is to have convincing and well-written statements. Our admin, a GKS-U 2020 awardee, will help screen through your draft documents and tell you what areas can be improved on.The documents will be assessed based on the guide questions provided by NIIED. The documents will be screened only TWICE. Do note that we will NOT help you write the statement, so only do engage us after you have finished writing your drafts! We will only help a limited number of people due to time constraint and how we are doing this in the midst of school work. For people who are seriously considering, contact us to find out about the price 🙂
Don’t forget that we’re doing a Facebook Live tonight at 9PM KST! See you ^_^

How to Choose a University?
For this post, we will explore how to choose the right university for you! Before writing any personal statement/study plan, you first need to decide which universities and courses you would like to enter. There are over 63 universities that you can consider and choose from and… there is no short-cut way to do this, but I would strongly advise you to look through ALL 63 universities.
When I was preparing my application, I chose three universities: Kyung Hee University, Seoul National University and Hanyang University. I am planning to work in the culinary field and KHU is known to have the best hospitality school in Korea. SNU, being the most prestigious university, is self-explanatory. Both Hanyang and SNU offered English courses which was why I decided to short-list them as my final three. I did consider Yonsei as well but the course I was looking at was only offering 100% Korean lectures. The photos below are what I wrote when I considered my university choices.
These are the steps I took to short-list:
1) Go through every university webpage and find out what majors they offer. Shortlist every university (+ specific major) you are interested in on a word document.
2) Head to the studyinkorea webpage to find out if the university offers English lectures, facilities as well as other information.
3) I also went to find out the QS University World Rankings of the universities before I came to my decision. (e.g. top uni in hospitality --> KHU)
4) Decide on your final three!
Tip: You need to be accepted by at least one university to be awarded the scholarship. I would strongly suggest to not put your three choices as ‘S’, ‘K’ and ‘Y’ (unless of course you are sure to be accepted by at least one of the three). What other scholars have advised was to have a SKY university in one of your choice, another top 10 university and finally one that is not as competitive to enter.
