On February 12th, as part of the World Bank Digital Global Practice, a delegation from Madagascar visited Korea for a study visit under the country’s national digital transformation project.
The delegation, composed of 10 representatives including the Minister of Digital Development and Telecommunications, and four World Bank officials explored Korea’s digital strategy, infrastructure development, cybersecurity systems, and public–private cooperation models.
During their visit to K-water headquarters, the delegation learned about Korea’s advanced applications of digital and AI technologies in smart water management. K-water shared best practices and real-world cases on digitalizing water resource management, while the Madagascar delegation introduced their national digitalization initiatives and discussed opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange. The visit provided a meaningful platform to strengthen partnerships and support Madagascar’s journey toward a more resilient and digitally empowered future.

K-water Academy had a 1-day study visit program for 15 Yeungnam University International students on December 11th.
K-water designed the one-day program on water management, which included lectures and study visits to K-water's facilities such as Daecheong Multipurpose Dam and IWRM Center.
Through the study visit program, students were able to learn more about K-water's roles in water resources development and management in Korea. Also, it was a good chance to build a close relationship with students from Yeungnam University who are interested in water resources management.

From December 8 to 19, 2025, K-water Academy successfully concluded the third and final batch of the Training on Smart Water Management Options for the City of Rawalpindi, Pakistan, marking the completion of this invitational training program under the ongoing Technical Assistance (TA) project in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Building on the strong foundation established during the first and second batches, the final program focused on consolidating knowledge, deepening practical application, and reinforcing strategic perspectives for smart urban water management. Participants engaged in an intensive and practice-oriented curriculum designed to translate learning into actionable insights for implementation in Rawalpindi.
The training covered advanced applications of smart water network management, non-revenue water (NRW) reduction strategies, and pipeline asset management, complemented by hands-on exercises, case studies, and field visits to K-water facilities. Through interactive workshops and expert-led discussions, participants had the opportunity to reflect on lessons learned across all three batches, address operational challenges, and explore sustainable solutions tailored to local conditions.
The successful completion of the third batch represents a culminating milestone of this capacity-building initiative, equipping water sector professionals with enhanced technical and managerial competencies to support sustainable urban water services in Rawalpindi. It also underscores the strength of collaboration among K-water Academy, ADB, and Pakistani water institutions, and reaffirms K-water’s commitment to advancing global water sustainability through long-term international partnership and knowledge sharing.

From November 22 to December 3, 2025, K-water Academy successfully completed the second batch of the Training on Smart Water Management Options for the city of Rawalpindi, Pakistan. This program is part of the ongoing technical assistance (TA) project in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and follows the successful delivery of the first batch held in September.
This second batch brought together 11 participants—10 officials from PICIIP, PWASA, and R-WASA, along with 1 representative from ADB Pakistan—further expanding the group of professionals benefiting from this capacity-building initiative. Building on the needs identified during the on-site assessment earlier in the year, K-water Academy once again provided a customized and practice-oriented curriculum that combined theoretical sessions, case studies, hands-on exercises, and field visits.
Participants explored K-water’s advanced smart water network management systems, strategies for reducing non-revenue water (NRW), and practical methods for pipeline network management and leakage detection. Interactive workshops with K-water experts facilitated meaningful exchanges on sector challenges and potential avenues for future cooperation.
The completion of the second batch marks another significant milestone in strengthening technical and managerial capacity for urban water management in Rawalpindi. It also reinforces the growing partnership between Korea and Pakistan in the field of smart water solutions. K-water Academy remains committed to promoting global water sustainability through continued international collaboration and knowledge sharing.

K-water Academy successfully completed the Capacity Building Program on the Smart Water Management Project for Aparri, Cagayan, Philippines, held from November 16–22, 2025 in Korea.
A total of 10 officials from the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) and the Aparri Water District (AWD) participated in the 7-day program. The training focused on enhancing smart water management capabilities—especially old pipe replacement, non-revenue water (NRW) reduction, and advanced water network operation.
Participants engaged in in-depth lectures on Korea’s best practices in water distribution system management and joined field visits to Seosan Regional Branch and Cheongju Water Treatment Plant, gaining hands-on insights into efficient and sustainable water operations.
This program is part of the ongoing Smart Water Management Project for Aparri (2022–2026), funded by Korea’s Ministry of Environment and implemented by K-water, aimed at improving NRW performance through system upgrades and pipeline rehabilitation.
