Art Playground

Today, we created handmade picture frames from recycled cardboard and decorated them with colorful origami. We enjoyed the creative process while singing together. Each child expressed their own creativity through unique choices of colors and decorations, making every picture frame truly one of a kind.

Mandala coloring is known around the world not only as a creative art activity for children, but also as a calming and meditative practice enjoyed by many adults. At the Playground, there will be many mandala designs for you to choose from - simple patterns to intricate artworks. Parents are also warmly welcome to join and color together with their children.

Weaving is one of the Khmer traditional crafts. At The Playground on 15 March, 11 children joined us to try weaving with colorful yarn using reused cardboard. It was a bit technical and challenging, but we believe this activity helped nurture not only creativity, but also concentration and persistence.

Today, we held an Art Playground session during a time of great hardship, when many people are suffering in the nation. Even in such moments, we believe that education for the next generation must continue.

Time spent with nature and art during childhood nurtures not only creativity, but also an appreciation for natural colors and forms, and a heart that respects differences among others. It helps children learn from one another, imagine, practice, and grow through change — fostering true self-esteem.

There is also much that I, as adults, can learn from children.
We hope this small space becomes a quiet source of hope for a peaceful future.
