🎓 Leadership Reloaded: Lessons That Inspire

On December 23, 2025, the Economics Department was honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Franco Gandolfi for a special lecture titled “Leadership Reloaded.” An internationally recognized academic leader, entrepreneur, author, and sought-after speaker, he serves as Distinguished Professor of Management at the California Institute of Advanced Management (CIAM) in Los Angeles and as Professor of Leadership at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., one of the world’s leading research institutions. Drawing on his global experience, he shared inspiring perspectives on contemporary leadership.

During the session, students explored the principles of effective leadership, focusing on self-awareness, integrity, purpose-driven decision-making, and service. Through practical examples and thought-provoking reflections, they discovered that true leadership is defined not by title or authority, but by the ability to create meaningful impact, build trust, and add value to others. 🌟

💛 Following our recent “Coffee Talk,” ECON freshmen showed incredible initiative and heartfelt empathy by supporting refugees affected by the unfortunate clashes at the Cambodia–Thailand border. Recognizing the urgent needs of those displaced, the students came together to collect essential supplies, including food and water, and went above and beyond—carefully packing goods and carrying heavy rice bags to provide comfort and relief.

Their hands-on involvement not only offered immediate support to those in need but also reflected a deep sense of social responsibility, compassion, and solidarity. By taking meaningful action in the face of a crisis, the students set an inspiring example for their peers and the wider community, demonstrating that even small acts of kindness can create a lasting impact.

🙏Together, let’s keep supporting one another and hoping for peace and stability at the border.

[Op-Ed] The prominent role of the US dollar in global finance, particularly its use by sanctioned regimes, has prompted a growing response among the BRICS countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. For these economies, the dollar's dominance is no longer seen as merely an economic convention, but increasingly as a source of strategic vulnerability. As a result, the shift toward de-dollarisation among BRICS is unfolding not as a disruptive break, but as a gradual, multifaceted and long-term effort to build greater monetary autonomy and resilience.
