Good mental health is more than simply managing stress. It involves emotional well-being, resilience, relationships, meaning, and how we navigate everyday challenges of life and work.
Arom Station is committed to promoting mental health and well-being among organizational staff and youth in Cambodia through advocacy, community engagement, capacity-building initiatives, and practical interventions.
We are grateful to GIZ Cambodia for the opportunity to have the Arom Station team contribute to Session 22 of GIZ Cambodia Health Initiative 2026: “Mental Health Beyond Stress: Emotional Well-being and Resilience.”
We also appreciate GIZ Cambodia for continuing to invest in staff well-being by creating supportive spaces that encourage meaningful conversations around mental health, emotional resilience, and well-being in the workplace.
Please note that this was a closed internal sharing session, not open to the public.

Mental health affects how we think, feel, connect, learn, work, cope with stress, and live our daily lives.
In today’s world of constant pressure, uncertainty, social comparison, digital overload, loneliness, and burnout, protecting mental well-being is becoming an essential life skill.
What can we do to promote mental well-being?
Mental well-being is often shaped through small daily habits, supportive relationships, meaningful connection, adequate rest, physical activity, reflection, and environments where people feel safe, valued, heard, and supported.
Promoting mental well-being is not only about treating illness when it appears. It is also about creating conditions that help individuals and communities thrive, adapt, recover, and maintain resilience over time.
There is no health without mental health.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is more than a communication technique - it is a way of relating to others with empathy, respect, and awareness.
In many everyday interactions, conflicts and misunderstandings do not happen simply because people disagree, but because people feel unheard, judged, blamed, misunderstood, or emotionally disconnected. NVC encourages people to communicate with greater empathy and clarity by focusing on observations rather than assumptions, listening without judgment, and expressing feelings and needs in constructive ways.
On 23 May 2026, Arom Station and JCI Neak Poan organized Workshop 2 of the Mental Resilience Project series: “Listen to Connect: Empathy in Action,” co-facilitated with Dr. Solynet Sao, Dr. Kimneath Lay as content experts with facilitation by Dr. Sengkhoun Lim.
Through reflective activities, role-plays, experiential learning, and group discussions, participants explored how listening with presence, curiosity, empathy, and non-judgment can strengthen human connection, improve relationships, reduce misunderstanding, and foster safer emotional spaces for communication.
In many situations, people do not necessarily need immediate advice or solutions — sometimes, they simply need to feel genuinely heard and understood.

Arom Station has also been actively contributing to youth development and community engagement through our collaborative work in mental health, well-being, and life skills development.
One important aspect of life skills development is helping young people navigate uncertainty, discover directions, and prepare for future personal and professional growth. On 16 May 2026, Arom Station had the opportunity to share and reflect with around 20 student volunteers for Career and Fair 2026 as part of FUSSAC on the topic of career and life design.
Career building begins long before someone receives a job title. It is the intentional process of exploring interests, developing strengths, building meaningful skills and experiences, and shaping how one hopes to contribute to society and live a meaningful life.
The session was explored through insights from 3 books and 3 reflective questions:
1. Do you plan to specialize early, or explore broadly before narrowing your path?
2. What combinations of skills, personal qualities, and experiences can make you uniquely valuable? (skill stacking)
3. What are your short-term games, and what is one long-term game you want to keep playing throughout your life?
One important reflection is that meaningful careers are rarely built through titles, prestige, or short-term achievements alone. They are often shaped through continuous exploration, intentional growth, useful combinations of skills, meaningful relationships, and a long-term commitment to becoming someone capable of contributing beyond oneself.
Perhaps one of the most important questions for young people today is no longer only: “What job do I want?” But also: “What kind of person do I want to become, and what societal problems are important enough for me to dedicate my life to helping solve?”

One area of youth development that we deeply care about at AROM Station is life skills development, including early career building — helping young people better understand themselves, navigate uncertainty, develop meaningful skills, and think intentionally about the future they want to create.
We’re exicited to collaborate in supporting the upcoming closed workshop, “Designing Your Career and Life Before They Design You,” on Saturday, 16 May 2026, organized for youth volunteers of “The Major & Career Fair 2026” by FUSAAC under the theme “Career in Transition.”
This invitation-only workshop will explore career development beyond grades, titles, and competition - toward self-understanding, exploration, identity formation, skill-building, long-term thinking, and meaningful contribution.
The session will revolve around 3 books, 3 ideas, and 3 reflective questions:
1. Range - Do you plan to specialize early, or explore broadly before narrowing your path?
2. How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big — What combination of useful skills could make you uniquely valuable?
3. Finite and Infinite Games — What short-term games are you pursuing, and what long-term game do you want to keep playing throughout your life?
At AROM Station, we work across two complementary areas:
• Well-being and mental health
• Life skills development, including self-knowing, growth mindset, resilience, and career development
We are grateful to contribute, even in small ways, to collective efforts that support youth development and a healthier, more resilient society.
