A sustainable Southeast Asia is built on the foundation of empowered communities and resilient urban ecosystems. Today, SD11 team re-dedicates ourselves to fostering youth leadership, urban and coastal nature-based solutions, and sustainable development across our cities and communities.

Protecting mangroves means protecting our coastal communities, wildlife, and future. 🌊✨

🍀As the climate crisis intensifies, mangroves are gaining long-overdue recognition for their role in protecting both people and the planet.

🌊These coastal trees capture and store large amounts of carbon, helping to mitigate the greenhouse gases that fuel climate change.

Greater investment in mangrove conservation and restoration is essential to strengthen climate resilience and safeguard the communities and wildlife that depend on these ecosystems.

A great kick-off for Urban Canopy Cambodia! Our Co-Founder and President, Haingveang Taing, shared key insights into how urban heat island effects interconnect with biodiversity loss, climate change, and disaster risks. Moving forward, Future Climate Heroes will serve as technical advisors to support Urban Canopy Cambodia on these critical issues. Cheers!

Future Climate Heroes x International Mangrove Day 🌊

Since 2022, Future Climate Heroes has been on the ground, visiting coastal mangrove sites over four times in four years. Why? Because we know the power of these intertidal forests and the vital role blue carbon plays in our planet's survival.

This year 2026, we are taking our work even further, scaling up our youth-led coastal monitoring, expanding community engagement, and deepening our impact on the ground.

Mangroves store up to 5x more carbon than land forests and act as our coastline's ultimate shield against climate impacts. This , we stand firm in our mission for taking action, empowering youth, and protecting our ecosystems.

In 2022, we launched Future Climate Heroes. After four years, we have achieved more than we ever imagined. This is the power of youth, and we are super proud of everyone working hard for the environment and climate. This year, we kicked things off on World Environment Day 2026 by showcasing our Future Climate Heroes Leadership Training. The results for our new batch of leadership trainees will be released soon!
