We offer students a general English program (GEP) at Preah Kossomak Polytechnic Institute (PPI). Among the 127 members, one staff member holds a Ph.D.
Established in 1965, Preah Kossomak Polytechnic Institute (PPI) was named Centre de formation Professionelles des cardes Technique (CENFOCAT), was later called Soviet-Cambodia Friendship Technical and Vocational Training Center between 1981 and1992, and was renamed Preah Kossomak Technical and Vocational Training Center (PKTVC) in 1992. It was upgraded to Preah Kossomak Polytechnic Institute in 20
01. In 2016, PPI was given higher rank equivalent to General Department by the Royal Government Decree No. 31. As one of leading TVET institutes, PPI is situated in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, PPI provides students with technical and business programs, including Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance, Management, and Marketing. PPI offers different levels of training such as certificate, high diploma, bachelor’s degree, and master’s degree. PPI has also received certificates of ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 9001-2015 for technical education provision, meaning that the degrees issued by PPI are recognized nationally and even internationally. PPI has seven faculties (Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance, Management, and Marketing) and four sections (Administration and Finance; Education; Curriculum Development and Quality Assurance; and Industrial Liaison, Planning, Development, and Soft Skills). PPI has been equipped with modern facilities for training activities such as a library, three engineering laboratories, 11 workshop rooms, four computer laboratories, and one research laboratory. PPI currently has 127 staff members, 68 of whom are technical teachers, 57 are general subject teachers, and 11 non-teaching staff. degree, 37 hold master’s degrees, 56 an engineering degrees, 26 bachelor’s degrees, six diplomas, and one certificate level. Some of the teachers at PPI have been dispatched to participate in overseas technical training programs in Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and so forth. The Institute has produced 15,087 graduates, 25% of whom are female, since 1982. In 2017, 2,484 students enrolled in bachelor’s programs, 1,335 in high diploma, and 245 in technical and vocational levels. Our graduates have had higher employment rates; more than 90 % of them have jobs in certain industries. PPI’s top students have participated in different Skills Contests. The students in the electrical engineering field received a gold medal and a bronze medal, and the students in the civil construction field got a gold medal and a silver medal in the National Skills Contest 2017. Our school was awarded the second champion in the National Robot Contest 2018. PPI is now preparing and training our students for the ASEAN Skills Contest this year. The Institute has strongly promoted the culture of cooperation and partnership with different development partners, private companies, organizations, and other stakeholders in the TVET sector. Recently, we have cooperated with ADB in supporting technical skills training programs and with JICA in terms of senior volunteer dispatches, tools and equipment for training, and inside and outside technical training scholarship. We have also collaborated and worked with private companies and organizations in strengthening and enhancing our technical and business programs to meet the labour market demand. With our national recognition and reputation in producing competent, skilled graduates in the technical and business, we are always committed to making PPI the best TVET institution in providing students with high quality training programs with fruitful, friendly, and supportive learning atmosphere in Cambodia. We expect to build more open and stronger relationship and cooperation with development partners, private companies, organizations, and other stakeholders in the TVET sector.
