ππ¨πΏπ°π Smart Agriculture Machinery from the Czech Republic Successfully Delivered and Assembled in Battambang!
The SmartAgri Cambodia project successfully completed the handover, assembly, and introductory technical training of advanced smart agriculture technologies for the National University of Battambang (NUBB).
The delivered equipment includes:
πΉ Tracked autonomous robotic vehicle (UGV)
πΉ Agricultural drone
πΉ Smart sprayer system
πΉ Seed drill and tine harrows
πΉ Cultivator
πΉ Soil moisture meter with soil probes
πΉ Weather station
The equipment was assembled at the SmartAgri Cambodia project workshop located at Battambang Institute of Technology (BIT) under the supervision of technical expert Dr. Adam KeΕ‘ner from the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU). The workshop serves as the technical backbone of the project for machinery preparation, servicing, practical trainings, and future smart agriculture demonstrations.
Czech and Cambodian teams worked together on the assembly, calibration, and technical preparation of the equipment, followed by introductory technical trainings for university staff and project partners focused on operation, maintenance, safety procedures, and smart agriculture applications.
These technologies will support practical student education, applied research, and future field demonstrations with farmers and Agricultural Cooperatives (ACs) across Battambang Province.
The initiative is another important step toward positioning NUBB as one of the leading smart agriculture institutions in Cambodia while further strengthening Battambang Province as a center of agricultural innovation and modern farming development in the country.

π First Theoretical Training at the Center for Smart Agriculture at αα·ααααΆααααΆααα
αα
αααα·ααααΆααΆαααααα-Battambang Institute of Technology
This week we held the first theoretical class in the newly renovated Center for Smart Agriculture at the Battambang Institute for Technology (BIT). The Center now includes a training classroom, technical workshop, and project office, creating a dedicated space for learning, experimentation, and collaboration.
The Center will primarily serve for the education and practical training of BIT students, giving them the opportunity to combine classroom learning with hands-on experience. At the same time, it will support the implementation of SmartAgriCambodia project activities, helping connect student learning with practical work in the field with farmers and agricultural cooperatives.
The Center will also act as a hub for Czech smart agriculture technologies, connecting local actors with innovative tools and practical solutions introduced through cooperation with Czech partners.
The first session was a regular theoretical class held in the new classroom, marking the start of teaching activities in the renovated Center and the beginning of its regular use.
π Next step: we are preparing for a practical class that will bring students directly into contact with field activities and technologies used within the project.
Follow us for more updates as the Center develops into an active platform for vocational Education, innovation, and agricultural services in Northwest Cambodia.

Why processing and packaging matter for Cambodiaβs future?
Packaging is more than just appearance - itβs about culture, sustainability, and market success!
As part of the SmartAgri Cambodia: Advancing Sustainable Agriculture in Battambang project, a 5-day training on Processing, Storage, Packaging & Marketing of Plant-Based Products was held at the National University of Battambang (NUBB).
Experts from the FTZ - Dr. Olga Leuner and Dr. Petra ChaloupkovΓ‘ - shared knowledge on post-harvest handling, food safety, packaging technologies, and marketing strategies.
Key discussions focused on adapting packaging to local needs, sustainability, and export requirements.

πΎ Three-Day Agricultural Machinery Training Completed in Moung Ruessei district!
From 20β22 November 2025, BAIDE, the Agricultural Machinery Office of Pronvincial Department Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries-PDAFF Battambang, and the Faculty of Engineering of the Czech University of Life Sciences jointly conducted a three-day practical training at Roka Mean Rith Agricultural Cooperative, and we also provided the tools box and spare parts to support the realistic practical.
A total of 27 farmers, including 14 women, participated in hands-on sessions focused on:
π§ Basic repair and maintenance of power tillers (hand tractors)
πΎ Reducing post-harvest grain losses from automatic harvesting machines
All three partners BAIDE, PDAFF Machinery Office, and CZU Faculty of Engineering worked together to deliver theory, demonstrations, and practical exercises.
A big part of the training was helping low-income farmers learn simple, affordable repairs so they can save service costs and keep their machines running longer.
Did you know?
π Incorrect harvester settings can cause up to 0.5-1 tons of rice loss per hectare, one of the biggest income losses in Cambodiaβs rice sector.
BAIDE and partners will continue supporting farmers in Battambang with practical training that improves productivity, efficiency, and safety in agriculture.

πΎ Digital Mapping Drone for Smarter Farming! π
As part of the SmartAgri Project, a collaborative field mission was conducted to advance drone-based digital mapping in Battambang Province. Drone experts from the Czech University of Life Sciences worked hand-in-hand with lecturers from the National University of Battambang, enhancing local capacity in drone operation and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) analysis. The activity was coordinated by the Baide team.
Field operations in Battambang province covered approximately 70 hectares across four Agricultural Cooperatives in Moung Reussei, Thmor Kol, Rattanak Mondoul districts and NUBB - Research and Development Center - αααααααααααααΆαααααΆα αα·αα’αα·αααααα, mapping rice, mango, longan, maize, and cassava crops. π±
Using multispectral camera, the team generated high-resolution NDVI maps to monitor crop health, identify water stress, and detect nutrient deficiencies β enabling targeted fertilizer and pesticide use, timely irrigation, and ultimately higher yields.
This initiative demonstrates how data-driven, precision agriculture can transform farming practices, making them more efficient, sustainable, and climate-smart. πβ¨
