Recommendations to the CBC Task Force
1) Grade 7 and 8 to be in primary schools.
2) Primary school teachers holding Diplomas and Degree or senior teachers in primary to teach grade 7 and 8.
3) Grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 to be in secondary schools.
5) All schools to be funded to be able to cater for the two pathways in Grade 11.

6) Schools to teach with what they have. No parent should be asked to buy any item. If the items needed for that topic aren't available, the topic to be rescheduled and be taught later.
7) Assessment modalities to be changed. School Based Assessment to carry 20% while that of KNEC to carry 80%.
8) Teachers to assess learners with due respect to their religious faiths.
9) Professional Documents to be reduced.
10) TSC to put a hold on TPD but instead use every holiday to train teachers on CBC.
11) KPSEA to be a written exam with Insha and composition.
12) School Based Assessment to be conducted by external invigilators and results uploaded by the sub county KNEC offices.
13) KNEC to devolve it's services by having Sub county KNEC offices.
14) Boarding schools to be abolished except in ASAL areas.
15) All schools to be of mixed gender.
16) Lowest entry grade for teaching courses to be reviewed. Primary: B- and Secondary B+.
17) Teachers' pay: lowest Job group to be paid Basic Salary of 35000.
C2 to start at 70000.
18) House Allowance to be uniform. 25000 despite where one works.
19) Children of teachers to be exempted from paying fees in all public schools.
20) All schools to have at least one police officer and a qualified counsellor.
21) All teachers to undego compulsory psychiatrist test and counseling services after every one three months.

TSC kicks off process to deploy 36,000 teachers to junior secondary


The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has commenced a process that will see the first batch involving thousands of primary and secondary school teachers being moved to teach in junior secondary schools.

The Commission has unleashed a plan that will see a good number of teachers being placed to teach in junior secondary starting December this year.

Junior secondary school section involves Grade seven, eight and nine. The current Grade six learners will join junior secondary in January 2023.

The Grade six learners will join junior high after sitting for their final assessment in primary school this November.

The exams known as Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will start on 28th November and end on 30th November 2022.

Details show that only teachers with the required qualifications will be allowed to teach in junior high next year.

Both primary and secondary school teachers and those in special schools will take part in teaching the pioneer Grade 7 learners next year.

For primary school teachers seeking to be deployed to junior secondary they must at least have one of the following qualification;

1. Diploma in Education

2. Higher National Diploma in Education

3. Bachelors Degree in Education

4. Post Graduate Diploma in Education

5. Masters Degree or PhD in Education

In addition the teachers must have been trained in Secondary Teacher Education with at least two teaching subjects.

The teacher must also have scored a mean grade of C+ (Plus) and above at KCSE and must have at least C+ (Plus) and above at KCSE in the two teaching subjects.

TSC says teachers who scored C (Plain) and below at KCSE and joined Universities and studied Bachelors degree in Education (Secondary option) will not be eligible for deployment.

Those who received training on Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) will have an added advantage.

*Requirements*
You must be a Kenyan citizen.
1.Have a P1 certificate.
2. Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and certification in at least two subjects.
3. A C+ Mean average in the KCSE is required.
4. Must be a TSC Teacher
5. Primary school teachers with the following qualifications will qualify to teach junior secondary.

2. Degree in Early Childhood Development Education

WHEN THE GAME IS OVER... WE SHALL ALL RETURN HOME.

A boy was sent by his father to urgently buy him food from a restaurant. On his way going, he was in a hurry because of the urgency of the assignment.

However, on his way back, he passed where his mates were playing football. He slowed down, began to watch the game, gradually slowing down until he finally stopped. He watched for a while and got carried away, he became interested, and indicated his interest in playing, he was invited.

He left the food in the care of some unknown people and entered the field. He forgot the assignment completely and played his heart out. He became the man of the match, dribbled opponents, created chances, scored goals and changed the face of the entire game.

When night came, the owner of the ball picked it up. It was time for everyone to go home; to go back to their parents, the game was over!

It now dawned on the boy after everyone had left that he had actually been sent to buy food by his hungry father. He went to where he kept the food, it had already been eaten by goats and dogs, "but I kept this food with some guys here a moment ago." He said.

He picked the plates, but was no longer happy, all the excitement of the game disappeared, the people clapping for him were all gone, the opponents he was playing against were all gone, the ball itself was gone, time was gone, those selling food were gone, he couldn't buy another!

Regrets took over him, he sluggishly walked home, with tears of sorrow and regrets whilst hiding in the dark.

When people saw him, they asked him why he was crying and hiding in the dark with empty plates! He had left with clean plates full of excitement, but returned with same empty plates, so dirty and stained !

When they asked him "Why he couldn't go home, he said his father will beat him". He knew the implications of a wasted time. So sad, too late.

According to Psychologists, there are four types of Quotients:

1) Intelligence Quotient (IQ)
2) Emotional Quotient (EQ)
3) Social Quotient (SQ)
4) Adversity Quotient (AQ)

1. Intelligence Quotient (IQ): this is the measure of your level of comprehension. You need IQ to solve math's, memorize things, and recall lessons.

2. Emotional Quotient (EQ): this is the measure of your ability to maintain peace with others, keep to time, be responsible, be honest, respect boundaries, be humble, genuine and considerate.

3. Social Quotient (SQ): this is the measure of your ability to build a network of friends and maintain it over a long period of time.

People that have higher EQ and SQ tend to go further in life than those with a high IQ but low EQ and SQ. Most schools capitalize on improving IQ levels while EQ and SQ are played down.

A man of high IQ can end up being employed by a man of high EQ and SQ even though he has an average IQ.

Your EQ represents your Character, while your SQ represents your Charisma. Give in to habits that will improve these three Qs, especially your EQ and SQ.

Now there is a 4th one, a new paradigm:

4. The Adversity Quotient (AQ): The measure of your ability to go through a rough patch in life, and come out of it without losing your mind.

When faced with troubles, AQ determines who will give up, who will abandon their family, and who will consider su***de.

Parents please expose your children to other areas of life than just Academics. They should adore manual labour (never use work as a form of punishment), Sports and Arts.

Develop their IQ, as well as their EQ, SQ and AQ. They should become multifaceted human beings able to do things independently of their parents.

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF FATHERS

1. THE ABSENT FATHER
This is a dead beat. He is nowhere in the child's life, has no relationship with the child. This father damages the child's identity and gives the child wounds that will take years to heal

2. THE PASSIVE FATHER
This father is around but is not engaged in raising the child. He comes home late or early, locks himself in the room or is fixated on the TV, the newspaper or the phone thinking that parenting is for the mother. He ends up making the child feel like a bother and an object in the house, ruining the child's self esteem and putting undue pressure on the mother

3. THE DISTANT FATHER
This father works far and so is rarely physically present in the child's life but instead of using technology, phones, the internet to keep communicating with the child, he goes silent, making the child feel neglected and soon the child learns to see dad as a visitor, not a father

4. THE CHOP MY MONEY FATHER
This father runs away from emotionally investing in the child and his default is to use his money to parent. So he buys things to buy the child's smile and silence. The child grows up empty and thinking love is gifts

5. THE "NO" FATHER
This father says no to everything. No TV, no good food, no friends, no going out, no boyfriend/girlfriend, no going to Church, no phone, no having s*x to the teenage child without giving reasons, no new clothes, no cool hairstyle ... without saying why. This makes the child grow without a healthy decision making process, robs the child a chance to reason or explore and makes the child shy away from asking for advice or help

6. THE "YES" FATHER
This father wants to be in the good books of the child and fears the tantrums of the child when the child does not get what he/she wants and so he says yes to everything even though it might ruin the child. This makes the child grow up spoilt and manipulative, questioning authority and feeling entitled

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF A GOOD PARENT DURING HOLIDAYS!
👠Pray with your kids.
🛼Mind the kids' dress code.
👠Monitor what they watch and how much time spent on TV.
🛼Make sure they do their holiday package.
👠 Vocational training skills are far better .
🛼 Boys and girls should have separate bedrooms.
👠Regular counselling meetings are vital for your kids.
🛼listen to them in case of challenges.
👠 Encourage bible recitation in your home.
🛼Be a role model to your kids.
👠Train them how to do domestic work.
🛼Promote your kid's dreams/visions.
👠Avoid domestic violence in front of kids.
🛼Have meals together.
👠Be a regular provider to your kids.
🛼 Encourage your children to greet.
👠Train kids to respect people irrespective of age.
🛼Teach them to be appreciative.
👠In the presence of children, avoid ill talks about their Teachers.
🛼Tell them "money is worked for".
👠Help your children avoid unnecessary visitations.
🛼Remember to sensitise them about HIV.
👠Get a school with bible teaching holiday programs for your children.
