Schools teach subjects, but homes teach character. And in today’s world, we are expecting teachers to perform miracles that even parents refuse to attempt.
A child arrives in school confused, undisciplined, overexposed to the internet, emotionally fragile and addicted to screens.
Then after eight hours in class, everyone wonders why the school did not “transform” them. It does not work like that.
A teacher can guide, but a home shapes. Schools can correct behaviour, but homes create it.
When a child has no boundaries at home, they will test every rule at school.
When a child is raised without respect, they will disrespect teachers.
When a child is raised on unlimited entertainment, they will not survive focused learning.
When a child is trained to negotiate every instruction, they will refuse every assignment. You cannot undo in one term what took years to build.
And this is the uncomfortable truth.
Some parents are outsourcing parenting. They hand children phones, tablets and TikTok, then expect schools to repair the damage.
They allow their kids to talk back, argue, be rude, sleep late, watch anything and access everything, then expect teachers to magically create discipline. It is impossible.
Schools are institutions of learning, not rehabilitation centres.
A school can support a child, but a home prepares that child to be supported.
When a home is chaotic, unstable or careless, the child carries that energy everywhere. Teachers can only work with what they are given.
If parents handle values, teachers can handle academics.
If homes build foundation, schools build the structure. But when the foundation is cracked, the structure will keep falling no matter how many times you rebuild it.
