ENDING LEARNING POVERTY!
The numbers are alarming—89% of children in Sub-Saharan Africa cannot read for meaning by age 10 (World Bank). That’s nearly an entire generation struggling to grasp the most basic skills needed for future success. If we don’t act now, the consequences for individuals and economies will be severe.
Here’s are a few ways we can turn the tide:
1️⃣ Invest in teachers – A well-trained, well-supported teacher is the most powerful tool for improving learning outcomes. We must prioritize their training, resources, and motivation.
2️⃣ Strengthen early learning – Foundational literacy and numeracy must be built in the early years. Delayed intervention means playing catch-up for life.
3️⃣ Leverage technology – Startups like ours, Esoma Solutions, are bridging the gap by making quality education accessible in underserved communities. Scalable digital solutions can transform how children learn, ensuring no one is left behind.
Figuring out foundational learning isn’t just about education—it’s about the future of the global economy. A literate, numerate generation means stronger workforces, innovative economies, and a brighter world for all. The time to act is now!
