Which Option Gives You a Better Chance of Getting Your Dream Course?
Many students have been asking about the difference between these two transfer options, their advantages, disadvantages, and which one offers a better opportunity to secure the course they really want.

1. KUCCPS INTER-INSTITUTIONAL TRANSFER
This is a transfer processed through KUCCPS after placement results have been released. It allows a student to change both the institution and the course. You must pay ksh 1000 transfer fee.
Example:
A student placed in Bachelor of Education at one university can apply to transfer to Nursing at another university, provided they meet the requirements and there is available space.

β Change both your university and course at the same time.
β Another opportunity for students dissatisfied with their placement.
β Allows movement to preferred institutions and programmes.
β Disadvantages
β Approval is not guaranteed.
β Depends on available capacity in the receiving institution.
β Highly competitive programmes attract many applicants.
β Health-related courses such as Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine, and similar programmes are often difficult to secure through transfer.
β Public universities tend to be more competitive due to high demand.
β If unsuccessful, you remain in your original placement.

2. UNIVERSITY INTER-FACULTY TRANSFER
This transfer is done after a student has already reported and joined the university. The student remains in the same university but changes to a different course. Changing of courses in the university is free of charge.
Example:
A student admitted to Bachelor of Education may later transfer to another programme within the same university after meeting the required qualifications.
π The student must meet the minimum subject requirements and university cut-off points for the intended course.
