IG : Touch A Heart was born during a Christmas visit to a children’s home, Murang’a Rescue Center in December 2009. While preparing for this visit, the administration requested if we could carry sanitary towels for girls. We bought enough to last all the girls for up to one year. In December 2010, we went back with a fresh supply for another one year. This t

ime however, we targeted two more children homes (Upendo children’s home and KENWA children’s home) in the same region. It was during this second visit that it hit us how much teenage girls go through while menstruating. Our interactions with one of the teachers in a local primary school painted a gloomy picture of this situation – beyond what we had imagined. Many girls were missing up to 5 learning days every month due to menstruation. It was from the reflection of these girls’ misfortunes that we decided to be an avenue of help to the needy girls across the country. Soon, we realized that the problem was bigger in neighboring schools. We increased the commitment to two girls but that too seemed like a drop of water in the ocean of needs. The need was countrywide and we weren’t going to meet this need on our own. We needed help. That is how ‘Touch A Heart’ was conceived. To mobilize resources from our networks to keep needy girls in school. Follow us on Twitter

A beehive of activities it was this weekend at Ondiko Primary school in Oyugis, Homabay.
Because of your giving 48 boys and 61 girls were touched.
As a way of celebrating 10 years of Touching Hearts, we planted 60 trees in total with all the boys and girls. @ Oyugis

A girl in Homabay County needs your love. A girl who may drop out school because of lack needs a good big sister to look out for her. Class 8 Girls in Homabay according to last year stats sat their National exam pregnant while many of them had to drop out to become parents. Such girls need to be told they can do it, that they've got this. And that is where you come in
Please join us in the drive, and more so join us and be part of the mentoring team. We are ever so grateful.
