Did you know your MP's vote in Parliament affects your child's degree more than the Vice-Chancellor's office? 🏫💸 In this first part of my Education & Politics series, we break down why 'Politics' is actually the name of your tuition fee. Don't just pay fees—understand who decides them.

📍Is your child choosing a course based on the "Name" or the "Market"?
Every year, thousands of Kenyan students rush into the same 5 courses, only to struggle with tarmacking for years after graduation.
But there is a hidden career path in the science and engineering world that most people don’t know about yet. This is the Geospatial Science field, offering courses such as Geospatial/Geomatics Engineering, GIS, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Cartography etc.
What is it exactly? Think of it as the "Science of Where." It is the technology behind the things we use every day:
✅ How Uber finds your exact location.
✅ How Google Maps plans your route.
✅ How the government plans new roads and housing projects.
✅ How satellites monitor climate change and our borders.
Why is it one of the most marketable courses in 2026?
Unlike traditional fields that are overcrowded, Geospatial experts are needed in almost every sector:
🔹 Real Estate & Construction: For surveying and land mapping.
🔹 Agriculture: Using drones to monitor crop health.
🔹 Security: Working with intelligence and satellite tracking.
🔹 NGOs & UN: For disaster management and resource mapping.
The best part? Because it’s a specialized field, the demand is high meaning less competition, better salaries and faster career growth.
If you are a parent helping your child choose a university path, or a student looking for a career that actually has job opportunities, you need to understand this field.
I’ve put together a Complete and well explained Geospatial Career Guide that breaks down:
What this field is all about including the various specializations.
The exact subjects and grades you need.
The universities and institutions in Kenya offering these courses.
What exactly is covered from the first to the last year in campus.
Where you will be employed after graduation.
The real salary expectations for 2026.
Career growth opportunities etc.
Don't follow the crowd. Follow the market.

🚨 If we don’t have the difficult conversations with our daughters, the world will; but not always in the right way.
Talking to teenage girls about relationships, boys, boundaries, and emotions can feel uncomfortable. Many parents avoid it, hoping school, church, or time will handle it.
But today, silence is no longer safe. Here is why these conversations matter now more than ever:
• A safe, open relationship with parents builds trust and protection
• Our children are exposed to a world that does not always prioritize their wellbeing
• Misinformation is everywhere and not all advice they receive is healthy
• Confidence and boundaries should be learned at home first
These conversations don’t have to be perfect. They just need to be intentional, honest, and consistent.
At the end of the day, it’s all about protecting and preparing our girls for life outside of home.
I am highlighting girls today because of the many unfortunate stories all over the media of girls getting lost, dropping out of school etc etc. Many of which could actually be avoided.
Recently, the story of Joy Wanjiru, a Form Three student at Kenya High School hit the news. She is still yet to be found.
Are we creating safe spaces for our daughters to open up to us? I have shared ways in which we can create these safe spaces, link is in the comment section 👇👇
What do you think we should do differently as a society to help reduce these cases??
African parents, how are we investing in our kid's wellbeing and future??

So your child says anataka kusoma Engineering. Sawa, but which one? 🤔
Because "Engineering" is not just Engineering.
It's like saying "Napenda kula nyama."
Okay… beef? Chicken? Goat? Tilapia?
The answer changes everything.
Same thing applies to the engineering field...
🏗️ Civil Engineering — Roads, bridges, buildings. The people who fixed that Thika Road mess.
⚡ Electrical Engineering — Power grids, circuits, solar. Behind every KPLC connection.
🗺️ Geospatial Engineering - Maps, satellite imagery, land surveying and GPS systems. These are the people who tell you exactly where that plot in Kitengela sits.
💻 Software Engineering — Apps, systems, code. The people who built M-Pesa.
⚙️ Mechanical Engineering — Machines, engines, manufacturing. Kenya's factories run on this.
🧪 Chemical Engineering — Refineries, pharmaceuticals, food processing.
📡 Telecommunications Engineering — The reason your Safaricom data actually works. Etc.
Yes, they all touch maths. Yes, they all sound "techy." But a Civil Engineer does NOT know how to fix your laptop. And a Geospatial Engineer cannot handle manufacturing issues in your company.
Choosing "Engineering" without knowing the specialization is like choosing a career in medicine and being surprised you ended up doing dentistry.
Parents need to ask the specific question and students have to do the specific research before selecting any engineering course.
Thousands of Kenyan students are currently enrolled in engineering courses that do not align with what they envisioned and won't get them hired. This is not because they aren't smart, but because no one guided them.
Don't let that be your (your child's) story. I have looked at the reasons why this is happening and how we can avoid it going forward, check comments 👇👇👇
Are you or your child considering choosing a MEDICAL & HEALTH SECTOR course on or privately? This is for you 👇🏾👇🏾
A career break, especially one that is not planned for can be tough to deal with.
But such is life, sometimes career breaks are inevitable. When it comes you just have to deal with it, yani hakuna otherwise.... BUT it's not the end of the road.

We are still on Applying for KUCCPS courses, which is currently ongoing...
I’ve seen so many brilliant students miss out on their dream courses yet they got deserving grades.
They make simple, avoidable mistakes during the application process that unfortunately cannot be reversed once submitted.
Before you hit that Submit button, you owe it to yourself to do your due diligence. Research shouldn't stop at finding a course; it's also about ensuring you place in the application correctly.
I’ve put together a deep dive into the 5 most common mistakes to take note off while applying on KUCCPS. This will help you save time and navigate the portal smoothly.

KUCCPS portal is open for applications to Universities and Colleges. But can we please pause and make well informed decisions based on the real job situation in Kenya?!

🚨 When KCSE results come out, the NEXT BIG THING is selecting courses on KUCCPS.
Homes that were full of celebration suddenly become filled with pressure;
“What course are you choosing?”
“Have you applied?”
“Don’t miss the deadline.”
“Your marks can’t go to waste.”
In the middle of all that noise, a young person is expected to make a decision that could shape the next 4 years and possibly the next 40.
Amidst this rush, there is a reality we rarely talk about:
- Many students don’t fully understand the courses they are selecting.
- Many parents assume the school has provided enough guidance.
- Many choices are made under pressure and without real clarity.
But today, I want to highlight one of the saddest and most avoidable situations.
There are students who actually know what they want to pursue…yet they make small but costly mistakes during the KUCCPS application process and miss out entirely on the courses and universities they truly desired.
Not because they lacked the grades or they lacked the potential. They lacked the right guidance during the application process.
That is why I have taken time to explain, step by step, how to apply for KUCCPS courses and the common mistakes to avoid — so you can increase your chances of landing the course and university you truly want.
Before making your final selection, watch it and share with any person in the process of applying for courses on KUCCPS.
