What does it really mean to safely navigate puberty? 💜

For us, it’s about so much more than providing sanitary pads.

It’s about making sure every young person has access to accurate information, trusted adults to turn to, and safe spaces where every question is welcome.

Through school and community programs, engaging learning materials, and open conversations, we help you build the confidence to understand your body and know your rights.

Because when you have access to information, you are better equipped to make informed decisions for yourself and for your futures.

What happens when girls receive sanitary pads for only part of the school term, but still need reliable and safe menstrual support all year round?

On July 9th, ZanaAfrica met with the Embu County Women Representative to discuss how to close this gap through a sustainable supply of sanitary pads with robust data tracking for accountability. They also discussed potential AI support for the Nia HealthLink (Hotline and Chatbot) and access to Nia Educational Magazines and Comics in the school libraries in Embu County.

Menstrual health is not just a health issue, it's a leadership issue. Together, ZanaAfrica and Embu County have started a collaboration to strengthen supply, improve data and build a more sustainable future for girls’ dignity and education.

Menstrual health remains an under-researched area of women’s health globally. Yet menstrual irregularities may signal broader gynecological or systemic conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS, anemia, or thyroid disorders.

Through the Menstrual Irregularities Study, ZanaAfrica is working to better understand these patterns and strengthen pathways for menstruators to access information, support, and referrals through Nia HealthLink, our free and confidential hotline.

This initiative contributes to improving evidence, awareness, and access to care for menstrual health.
