We are doing onion bulb farming in the ruler area, and this is for widows and most disadvantaged families in creating generating income projects and also create jobs among themselves. POULTRY FARMING.
If there is any agribusiness venture I would recommend anyone to engage in without thinking twice it is poultry farming. I found poultry keeping not labor intensive but very profitable.
In starting this project, one has to keep various birds in the farm. They include turkeys, doves, penguins, guinea fowls and chickens.
In this regard I have made up my mind if I get the funds this is the only project I can start because poultry farming has contributed greatly to Kenya economy.
FARMING METHOD.
In Kenya we have two major methods of farming, this are organic and inorganic.
BREEDS.
There are numerous world famous meat and egg producing poultry breeds available, but we must select the proper breeds according to our desired production. Before I start poultry farming I must go to the nearest poultry farming training center to get more information how to do brooding, vaccine, and feeding,
POULTRY HOUSE.
We have to build a good designed and well facilitated housing but this entirely depends on the farming system and chosen poultry breeds.
I can build poultry house using experienced person who is trained how to build it because the birds require enough space for fresh air, areas where to put their food and fresh water.
FEEDING.
The birds must be given good and quality nutritious food to keep them healthy and productive because this is the key to success. In this reason some of the funds we will be used to purchase enough food for the birds.
HATCHING SYSTEM.
We will require having an incubator for hatching. We can sale some of the eggs and other be hatched to multiply the birds and expand the project.
MARKETING.
There is already a ready market for poultry products. We can sale our product to local markets. And for large scale farming we can target schools, Super markets, companies, big hotel, and international market.
BENEFITS.
This can benefit the entire community by creating job opportunities to the youths and also it can improve the living standard of the poor families by providing them with food and other basic needs.
Also it can support others to start up small scale projects by funding them in order to change their lives and achieve their dreams.
We have many people with the potential but the only problem is poverty which has contributed to high spread of HIV AIDS, earlier marriage, lack of education because many cannot afford to continue with their education due to lack of funds. I’m optimistic that if we can start this project it can touch many and turn them from scratch to millionaires.
