PRESS RELEASE BY KNUT: TEACHERS STRIKE.
ON 5th JULY 2013
We appreciate the presidents timely intervention; HOWEVER we have NOT received service of any orders from anyone; let it be known that strikes can never be resolved through orders only candid negotiations will end the strike. Government should stop hiding behind the Courts;
1. You all witnessed the cabinet secretary stating that if the court declares the strike illegal then TSC will not pay. TSC is now inhumanly denying teachers their salaries contrary to the Employment Act section 18 on workers entitlement to salaries which states at subsection (2) THAT;-
“wages or salaries shall be deemed to be due (c) in the case of an employee employed for a period exceeding one month , at the end of each month or part thereof.”
KNUT DEMANDS THAT THE TSC RELEASES JUNE 2013 TEACHERS SALARIES IMMEDIATELY.

2. The A.G should steer away from this labor dispute as he is not a party. He is now interfering with the TSC which is an independent commision.
Knut strike is not about to end.

Be informed that the Goverment has continued threatening and procrastinating over our issue. You are to intensify both strike activities and lobbying everybody within your reach. Strike proper starts tomorrow Monday 1st July 2013. Solidarity Forever comrades....

The real strike is about to start, all teachers are advised to assemble in their branch offices tomorrow for striking activities as shall be communicated from Head office as from 8 am. We must get it this time round or never ! Blessed Sunday.

KNUT top brass this morning will be meeting Hon Jacob Kaimenyi at his Jogoo office at 8am. We shall deliver the message of the strong desire for the exodus of the children of the teaching profession to the promised land. We will meet KNEC chief Paul Wasanga after 9am today to discuss a wide range of issues including the delayed payments to teachers. We are on top of things ! Watch this space.

Congrats Professor Jacob Kaimenyi for your approval as Education cabinet secretary. KNUT is waiting for you to sort out the controversial legal notice 16 and implement the 1997 legal notice 534. Hope this will be your first duty sir to avert the strike !

KNUT has issued a 14 day ultimatum to TSC to reinstate the withdrawn teachers' hardship allowances and unconditionally- reinstate promotion programs for all teachers in service. It will not be business as usual !
