Mangroves account for only approximately 1% of carbon sequestration by the world's forests, therefore are natural solutions to climate change. Let's conserve mangroves today and enhance sustainability.

Today is International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem which adopted by the General Conference of UNESCO in 2015 and celebrated each year on 26 Jul.

The aim of the commemoration is to raise awareness of the importance of mangrove ecosystems as “a unique, special and vulnerable ecosystem" and to promote solutions for their sustainable management, conservation and uses.
