Monday March 2nd. World Boarding Staff Day greetings to all boarding educators, you are truly the unsung heroes.

02/03/2026

Today, on World Boarding Staff Day, I’m reflecting on the complex and rewarding work of leading boarding schools with diverse student and staff bodies. The realities we navigate include:
Building inclusive cultures where every voice is heard
Navigating religions, cultural norms, and varied needs
Ensuring equitable access to opportunities, resources, and supports
Aligning school policies with diverse needs while maintaining a coherent vision
Hiring, onboarding, and retaining a staff that reflects the communities we serve
Balancing academics, wellbeing, and safety in a dynamic environment
Fostering authentic family and community partnerships
Adapting to changing demographics, tech shifts, and competing priorities
As leaders, we’re called to listen deeply, center equity, and model lifelong learning for students and staff alike. Today, I’m grateful for my colleagues who bring resilience, creativity, and empathy to work every day. I’d love to hear: what strategies have you found most effective in creating truly inclusive, thriving boarding communities?

Do you love boarding as much as we do?
