LIKONI TVC JOINS JUKWAA LA WASOMI CPM GRADUATION CEREMONY IN NAIROBI

Likoni Technical & Vocational College was represented yesterday at the Jukwaa la Wasomi CPM Graduation Ceremony held at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies in Nairobi.

The event commemorated the International Day of Peace and featured the launch of two important initiatives: Kenya National Mediation Hub & Mr. & Miss Peace Initiative

The ceremony brought together students, educators, leaders and peace advocates to promote peace, dialogue, mediation and environmental responsibility among young people.

Likoni TVC was proudly represented by the Principal, Madam Samira Abdallah, Dean of Students, Mr Suleiman Dunga, Student council Chairman Mr Gitonga and the Council Secretary General Mr Omar, demonstrating the institution's commitment to empowering trainees beyond technical skills through leadership, peacebuilding, citizenship and community development.

ikoni Technical and Vocational College (Likoni TVC) today hosted a KOICA–GIZ delegation for a visitation aimed at strengthening collaboration and exploring opportunities to enhance technical and vocational education and training.

The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to interact with the college management, tour various training facilities and appreciate the institution’s progress in delivering competency-based, practical and industry-oriented training.

The engagement is particularly significant given the ongoing KOICA–GIZ-supported initiatives in Kenya aimed at promoting dual TVET, employment opportunities, green industries and greater participation of women in STEM-related skills development.

The delegation was also able to appreciate Likoni TVC’s growing role in skills development within the Coast region. The college is a registered public TVET institution offering training across several technical and business disciplines.

The visitation marks an important step towards partnerships, knowledge exchange, institutional development and stronger industry linkages, positioning Likoni TVC to continue preparing young people with relevant skills for the changing labour market.

🌿 RESTORING OUR COASTLINE, ONE MANGROVE AT A TIME! 🌿

The Likoni TVC Environmental Club, in partnership with Kishoka CBO and the NGCDF Likoni, successfully conducted a mangrove tree planting exercise aimed at restoring and protecting our coastal ecosystem.

The initiative brought together students, community members, and stakeholders who demonstrated their shared commitment to environmental conservation, climate action, and sustainable development. By planting mangroves today, we are safeguarding our coastline against erosion, creating habitats for marine life, improving biodiversity, and contributing to the fight against climate change.

At Likoni TVC, we believe that technical education goes hand in hand with community service and environmental stewardship. Through such partnerships, we continue to empower our trainees to become responsible citizens who make a positive impact beyond the classroom.

Likoni TVC Partners in Launch of the Likoni RPL Registration Programme

Today, Likoni Technical and Vocational College proudly joined our Area MP, Hon. Mishi Mboko, during the launch of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Registration Programme, a transformative initiative fully funded by the NG-CDF Likoni under the leadership of Hon. Mishi Mboko.

Through this programme, skilled workers who have acquired their expertise through years of experience, but lack formal qualifications, will be assessed by Likoni TVC. Upon successful assessment, they will be awarded nationally recognized certificates that validate their skills and open doors to better employment, career progression, and entrepreneurship opportunities.

As a college, we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to partner with the NG-CDF Likoni and the Mishi Mboko Foundation in this impactful initiative. Together, we are ensuring that skills are recognized, talent is rewarded, and no hardworking individual is left behind simply because they do not possess formal academic certificates.

The launch ceremony was graced by Hon. Mishi Mboko the Principal of Likoni Technical and Vocational College, Madam Samira Abdalla, Mr. Mohamed Nyembwe, NG-CDF Likoni Manager, Mr. Gombo, Deputy NG-CDF Likoni Manager, and members of the NG-CDF Likoni Board, underscoring the strong partnership and shared commitment to empowering the people of Likoni through skills recognition and quality technical and vocational education.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in expanding access to certification for skilled artisans and professionals, enabling them to improve their livelihoods and contribute more effectively to Kenya's workforce.
