SOMETIMES, THE LESSON IS NOT IN THE VISIT — IT IS IN THE JOURNEY. 🌱💙
Watching Tr. Cillah and George Ruto’s visit to Westlands School reminded me of something I deeply believe in as an educator:
Never despise small beginnings.
Behind every successful school, teacher or educator is a journey of faith, sacrifice, consistency and countless moments when giving up would have been easier.
As teachers, we may sometimes wonder whether the work we do is being noticed. We teach, encourage, nurture, wipe tears, celebrate small achievements and keep showing up—even when resources are limited and the journey feels difficult.
But your work matters.
Your passion matters.
Your consistency matters.
And most importantly, the lives you touch matter. ❤️
The greatest lesson for me is this:
✨ Let your work speak for you.
✨ Use every opportunity to create impact.
✨ Keep children at the centre of everything you do.
✨ Dream, even when the beginning looks small.
✨ Keep building, even when nobody is watching.
Today you may be working with a handful of learners in a small school. Tomorrow, that same little beginning could become something much bigger than you ever imagined.

Transformation takes time 🐛➡️🦋
A butterfly does not become beautiful overnight. Growth requires patience, preparation, and a process.
Your difficult season is not your final form.
The caterpillar stage may look ordinary, but it is part of the journey toward something beautiful.
Sometimes you must withdraw to grow.
Inside the cocoon, the butterfly is separated from the world. Some seasons of your life may require silence, solitude, and reflection.
Don't rush your process.
If the butterfly is helped out of the cocoon too early, it may not develop the strength it needs to fly. Some struggles build the strength required for your next level.
You can become something you never imagined.
The caterpillar could never fly—but transformation gave it a completely different ability.
Your past does not define your future.
Don't allow people to judge your future by who you were yesterday.
Growth can be uncomfortable.
Transformation involves breaking old patterns. What feels uncomfortable today may be preparing you for tomorrow.
When your wings are ready, fly. 🦋
Don't spend your whole life comparing yourself with others. When your season comes, embrace it boldly.
Beauty is often hidden in the process.
People admire the butterfly, but they rarely see the struggle that happened inside the cocoon.
Trust God's timing. 🙏
What looks like a delay may actually be preparation. God can use your hidden season to prepare you for a visible assignment.

CBE ENLIGHTENMENT from ELLAM SCHOOL -RUAI academic desk.
Theme: Guiding Parents towards Learners Purposeful Career Choices
1. Grade 10 Selection & Placement 2026: What Has Changed?
Introduction
Grade 9 learners are the first group to transition fully into Senior School under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system. The Ministry of Education has introduced several improvements to make the placement process easier and fairer.
Key Changes
a) One Unified KEMIS Portal
Previously there were separate systems.
Now all selection and placement are done through one KEMIS portal.
This simplifies the application process.
b) Learners Choose 8 Schools Instead of selecting 12 schools, learners now select 8:
C1 - 3 schools
C2 - 2 schools
C3 - 2 schools
C4 - 1 school
c) Schools Can Offer Only Two Subject Combinations Previously schools could declare three combinations. Now each senior school offers a maximum of two combinations.
d) Career Pathway Checker A new digital tool helps learners:
Discover careers
Understand required subjects
Choose suitable pathways
e) Private Schools Private senior schools are now placed under Category C5.

7. Questions Parents Often Ask
Can my child change pathways? Yes, in some cases, subject to Ministry guidelines and school capacity.
Does Grade 9 performance matter? Yes. It influences pathway placement and admission to senior schools.
Can all schools offer every pathway? No. Schools offer pathways based on their facilities, teachers, and approved subject combinations.
Will all learners join boarding schools? No. Learners may join national, extra-county, county, sub-county, or private schools depending on placement and choice
Conclusion
The Competency-Based Education system is not just about passing examinations. It seeks to nurture every learner's gifts, talents, values, and character so they can become competent, responsible, and productive members of society.
