Empowering TVET Student Innovators Through Intellectual Property Training
Yesterday, 7th May 2026, Machakos University hosted the 2nd Intellectual Property Rights Training for TVET students, reaffirming its commitment to research, innovation, and protection of student ideas.
The training was graced by Prof. (CPA) Florence Memba, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration, Planning and Finance), representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joyce J. Agalo.
Participants gained valuable insights from Ms. Belinda Ilagosa, Patent Examiner from the Kenya Industrial Property Institute, on patent protection, industrial property rights, and global innovation frameworks under the World Intellectual Property Organization and African Regional Intellectual Property Organization.
Machakos University continues to empower students to innovate, protect, and transform ideas into impactful solutions for society.

🌟 Strengthening Leadership for Excellence!
Machakos University Council Members, led by the Council Chairman, Dr. Peter Maangi Mitiambo, paid a courtesy call to the University Chancellor, Dr. James Mworia, to discuss the University’s strategic growth, infrastructural development, sustainability, and student-centered initiatives.
The meeting reaffirmed Machakos University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, partnerships, and producing globally competitive graduates.

Powering Nurses Week: Machakos University Champions Healthcare Heroes!
Machakos University has reaffirmed its commitment to community health through a corporate social responsibility initiative, donating 100 bottles of its branded purified water (MACHA DRiPS) to the National Nurses Association Of Kenya - NNAK Machakos Branch.
The donation, made yesterday, 4th May 2026, and authorized by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joyce J. Agalo, supports the NNAK Roadshow taking place from May 6-12, marking the start of NURSES WEEK- a global celebration of the vital role nurses play in society.
The handover, held at the University Water Treatment Centre, was received by NNAK Machakos Treasurer Ms. Joyce Mativo. The process was facilitated by the University Hotel Manager, Mr. William Orondo, and the Ag. Restaurant Manager, Ms. Zipporah Obed.
This partnership underscores Machakos University’s dedication to advancing community well-being and strengthening collaborations with key healthcare stakeholders.

🌱🪴🌳 Greening Tomorrow: Machakos University Students Lead Community Climate Action!
Machakos University Environmental Club and Machakos University Go Green club, in collaboration with Kathale Community, in Kiimwa Kimwe- Machakos, the Area Chief, Mr. Muli Mutua, and KIUESA, successfully held a transformative tree planting initiative today to restore the environment and advance climate resilience.
Speaking during the event, the KIUESA (Kenya Inter-University Environmental Students Association) Greater Eastern Region Representative, Fednard Opiyo Ojwang (Machakos University Student), underscored the critical role of youth leadership, strong partnerships, and community engagement in building a sustainable future.
The Area Chief commended the collaboration, highlighting its impact in strengthening environmental conservation, raising awareness, and fostering community ownership of natural resources. Through the Environmental Club, Machakos University continues to champion a greener planet by driving impactful partnerships and community-centered climate action.
