Plural Nouns – Special Rules

1. Add -es to words ending in:

s → bus → buses

ss → class → classes

sh → dish → dishes

ch → church → churches

x → box → boxes

2. Words ending in -y

If the letter before -y is not a vowel, change -y to -ies:
baby → babies
lady → ladies

But if there's a vowel before -y, just add -s:
boy → boys

3. Words ending in -f or -fe

Change -f or -fe to -ves:
leaf → leaves
knife → knives

But some just add -s:
roof → roofs
chief → chiefs

And, but, and because are joining words called conjunctions.

And is used to join similar ideas or things.

But is used to show a difference or contrast.
