Yesterday Dr. Kennedy Odede officially launched Kasipul community resource centre Oyugis, Homabay County,where talents will be natured. The facility housed Library, the only one in entire region that will sharpen education in Oyugis and beyond. The schools will access services freely.
It will also empower young women through Shofco women empowerment program (SWEP) whereby handcraft skills I.e liquid soap making,shampoo making, door mat weaving and also tailoring classes will be trained to help them fit into the current economy and earn a living out of it.
Daktari went ahead and supported various local community based Organizations (CBO's) with money worth ksh. 1.5Million each for various projects in the community.
Two youth groups were also identified and supported with Hatchery and brooder machine equipment and Modern interlocking brick making Makiga maching to support them earn an income and open opportunities for more youths.
Lastly,317youths trained under financial literacy and linked to shofco sacco received instant loans worth 17Million that will support them in their business.
He encouraged the community to protect those resources and urged them to join shofco for development purpose.
He visited various ECD accompanied by Hon. Peter Kaluma,MP, CBS and supported the institutions with desks, chairs and other resources. He priorities education as a key factor in human life and encouraged parents to ensure their children go to school.
