♨️♨️HOW IS STARTED ♨️♨️
🔴In the late 18th century, Scottish doctors John Aitken and James Jeffray developed a small hand cranked chain saw called an osteotome to cut bone during difficult surgeries, including certain childbirth complications when the baby's passage through the pelvis was too narrow.

🔴Before the invention of safe Caesarean sections, obstructed labor was often life threatening for both mother and child.

🔴Doctors sometimes performed a procedure called a symphysiotomy, cutting through part of the pelvic joint to widen the birth canal. The chain osteotome made this process faster and more precise than using knives or saws.

🔴The original instrument looked nothing like today's gasoline powered chainsaws. It was a compact surgical tool with a fine toothed chain that was turned by hand, designed specifically for cutting bone with greater control.

🔴Over time, the same chain cutting principle was adapted for orthopedic surgery and eventually inspired the development of mechanical chainsaws for forestry.
