Thinking of Avocado Spacing, Think Beyond the First Harvest

Avocado spacing decisions should not be based on how the farm will look in year one or two, but on what will happen in year four, five and beyond, when trees stop being polite and start demanding space.

High-density spacing such as 2×3 m, 3×3 m or 4×4 m can work, but only if the farmer understands the long-term contract they are signing. These systems assume that after two or three good harvests, you will deliberately remove an entire row or column of trees to create space. Pruning will buy you time for the first four to five years, but it .

No matter how weeds are overcoming your orchard. This area(canopy) should be;

. Any presence of weeds will lead to competition for nutrients and water and at the same time hosting destructive insects like beetles only mulching materials are allowed there.
*Always . This area is full of roots which Must be active everytime. Moisture keeps them active in terms of growth, development and absorption of essential nutrients. If your irrigation system can't supply water around the entire canopy, work on it. remain the best irrigation system for such big canopies.
*Always make sure there's no touching the ground (raise your crown) 1-2feets depending on the size of the trees... Branches touching the ground will allow easy access of insects and diseases to your trees damaging fruits and trees.
Air circulation is essential when it comes to flowering and the open the crown(bottom of the tree) the higher the circulation activating the flower buds.

Air circulation will also reduce cases of in your trees (the many dry twigs you see in your trees). Dampness leads to death of many twigs as it create a room for fungal spread.

Jembes aren't allowed to do any activity in the canopy. Fork jembes and rakes are the best
