EYG MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Empowering the Younger Generation (EYG) mentorship program was established in order to help develop confidence, self-esteem, excellent interpersonal skills, promote academic excellence and leadership both in and outside school among the young people. Our aim is to provide the young people with a strong foundation and network to encourage them to utilize their full potential

and be the best in all they do. VISION
A better society pillared on highly efficient and responsible young people who aim to utilize their full potential for the greater good. Mission
To empower and inspire a new generation of young people that are equipped with essential skills that will not only help them excel in today’s world but also act as catalysts of positive change to the society. At EYG we run two types of Mentorship programs. They include:

One-on-One Mentorship Program. This is a secondary and Primary school- based mentoring program. The mentees are matched with responsible, caring adults who are committed to sustaining a consistent partnership for at least one year. This close relationship promotes positive change by allowing the youth to see first-hand an alternative way of living that leads to a quality life. Mentors meet with their 'mentees' atleast once a month, for two hours on a weekend, on the school grounds. They may read together, play games, go for a walk, discuss current events, and work on a school project or just talk. In addition to their two hours a month together, the mentor and mentee attend group activities sponsored EYG mentorship program

Group Mentorship Program

In this program, we visit different institutions and share our experiences, skills and knowledge with the youth at the institutions. We group them based on their genders and age. We discuss with them various topics such as self-esteem, Peer pressure, Sexual Reproductive Education, Drug Abuse, displine etc. This is usually a very interactive session where the youths are allowed to ask as many questions as they can and also share their relevant experiences with the mentors.

It's always a joy to give back to the society in one way or another. Giving is much better than receiving, and when it's to children in need, it's invaluable 😊 🙏

“The best antidote I know for worry is work. The best cure for weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired. One of the great ironies of life is this: He or she who serves almost always benefits more than he or she who is served.”

"A lot of people put pressure on themselves and think it will be way too hard for them to live out their dreams. Mentors are there to say, ‘Look, it’s not that tough. It’s not as hard as you think. Here are some guidelines and things I have gone through to get to where I am in my career." — Joe Jonas

Last week I had a privilege to sit beside this swimming pool with the amazing souls who have lost themselves into service to humanity. A group of young talented minds did a music art "Nipe elimu niimalishe maisha" a piece I totally resonated with. Reach down the ladder and hold the hand of one kid and help them be a better version of themselves. Volunteer and help build those who have been left to fight another day.

Join us in congratulating one of our own, Mercy Pacelenzy, for winning the new blogger personality of the year in the just concluded OLX SOMA Awards, 2016. She runs an organisation called Bellapace Books, which aims to advocate, inculcate and nurture the reading culture beyond classroom walls besides connecting the reading community. We are proud of her achievement. We are also proud to have her as our member and her organisation as one of our partners in driving our vision.
