Put A Smile On A Childs Face

Put A Smile On A Childs Face The PutASmileOnAChildsFace project aims to support disadvantaged children and reports about the daily life in Kibera Slums, Nairobi Kenya.

Many children in Kibera, the biggest slum of Nairobi, have lost their smiles because they have lost their perspectives. Many parents cannot afford school fees and their children idle around in the streets. Boredom often leads these children to drugs and crime. Because every child should grow up with hope and dreams about a brighter future, 5 local friends originally started this project with the a

im of bringing children in Kibera back to school, by paying their school fees to give them a reason to smile again. The photos by founder Benson about the everyday life in Kibera aim to increase awareness of the living conditions in the slum.

The importance of food is obvious and essential. Healthy food provides us the nutrients and energy to develop and grow, be active and healthy, to move, play, work, think and learn. Do you have childhood memories of eating a favorite food? Maybe you remember how you eagerly anticipated. If you stop and think about it, you probably associate some of your favorite foods with family and friend memories.
Food is clearly important for nutrition, but it's also meaningful to humans in other ways.

War, Poverty, Crime, Hunger: With all of the injustices that exist in today’s world, it can be easy to lose faith in humanity. We may ask ourselves, “Why should we care if no one else does? Nothing ever seems to change or get any better, so we might as well accept the world as it is.” Although it is important to acknowledge the existing injustices and view them as serious issues that need to be resolved, it is equally important for us to realize our own part in seeing those solutions become part of reality. The following quotes about humanity may explain and hopefully inspire us:
Meet Nakoliang age 65 years old from Turkana County in the Northern part of Kenya living to tell both good and bad stories of his life and community. “ He believes that there is a better tomorrow despite the struggle of food and water in that area.
We have the ability to be the change we want to see in the world. Putting action to words, Together we can demonstrate how to help humanity, the planet, and all life on the planet if we choose to “Being human is given. But keeping our humanity is a choice.” – Anonymous

"Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future. If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay. Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvelously. Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky. Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones."~Thich Nhat Hanh

Daily life for children brought up in Kibera slums is grim. Most of these children begin their lives on fronts of abject poverty. Poor infrastructure, lack of access to quality education and poor sanitation makes life unbearable. However, children in this area have proven that their dreams are valid regardless of where you come from. Kibera has raised great talents in different sectors.
We as Inua Mimi mentor children in various talents such as Dance, Photography, Acting and Singing apart from the normal daily classes.
