We were honored to host Dr. Steve Manchester, a World Gospel Mission missionary and Medical Doctor at AGC Tenwek Hospital, speaking to us during our Thursday Chapel Service led by the University's Peer Counseling Group.
The service began with a brief presentation by the Peer Counseling Group, highlighting the various activities and support services they offer within the university community. The group operates under the leadership of the University Counselor, Mrs. Sally Sambu, whose dedication continues to empower students and foster a supportive environment for personal growth and well-being.
Addressing students, faculty, and staff, Dr. Steve Manchester delivered a powerful and practical message based on 2 Corinthians 3:18, focusing on God's transformative work in the life of every believer. He emphasized that spiritual growth is a continuous journey that begins with recognizing one's sinfulness and progresses toward a life fully surrendered to God.
Drawing from biblical teachings, Dr. Manchester outlined the stages of spiritual maturity, encouraging believers to deepen their relationship with Christ, grow in their love for God, and develop a genuine concern for others. He explained that through faith in Jesus Christ, individuals receive forgiveness, are reconciled to God, and are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live transformed and purposeful lives.
The chapel service provided a meaningful opportunity for worship, reflection, and spiritual encouragement.
Kenya Highlands University remains committed to nurturing students holistically through academic excellence, spiritual formation, and character development, preparing them to serve God and society with integrity, compassion, and purpose.

We had the privilege of hosting Prof. Chris Odindo, who paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Kiplangat. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to discuss innovation, entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, and the future of Kenya Highlands University in an increasingly digital world. The Vice Chancellor was in the company of Deputy Vice Chancellor, Rev. Dr. Paul Lokol, ICT Director Mr. Joseph Koech, and Dr. Nicholas Kiget during the engagement.
Prof. Odindo is a distinguished academic, entrepreneur, consultant, and public speaker with a remarkable international career spanning finance, business, technology, and higher education. His professional journey began in Kenya's financial services sector before taking him to New York and later to London's financial district, Fenchurch Street. Along the way, he earned an MBA through a scholarship and participated in a joint Harvard-MIT project in Boston that focused on technology commercialization strategies.
His academic pursuits later led him back to England, where he completed a fully funded PhD examining the competitive and innovative implications of social and technological spaces. Today, his work continues to influence discussions on how institutions can leverage innovation to remain relevant and impactful.
A passionate advocate for transformative learning, Prof. Odindo's research and teaching focus on authentic assessment, entrepreneurial thinking, and emerging technologies such as Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). He has recently secured funding to develop an innovative framework known as the AI-Enhanced Adaptive Pedagogical Model and Tool, which is currently being considered for commercialization as a university spin-out. He is also developing another groundbreaking educational framework called the Generative Knowledge Advancement Model.
Beyond academia, Prof. Odindo is a successful entrepreneur who has founded and exited multiple companies. Among his notable achievements is the development of the first Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) white-label online insurance and rating software platform in the East African region.
As a thought leader in technology and innovation, Prof. Odindo is currently conducting a public lecture series exploring how universities must rethink their value proposition in an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. His message is clear: institutions of higher learning must embrace innovation, cultivate adaptability, and strategically integrate AI into teaching, learning, research, and administration.
The visit was both insightful and inspiring, highlighting the immense opportunities that exist when academia, innovation, and entrepreneurship intersect.
Kenya Highlands University under the leadership our our Vice Chancellor values such engagements and looks forward to exploring future collaborations with Prof. Odindo in areas of research, innovation, technology integration, and capacity building.
Kenya Highlands University looks forward to build a strong and mutually beneficial partnership with Prof. Chris Odindo as we continue to advance innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and academic excellence. Today, the University community was greatly honoured to welcome one of our distinguished alumnus, Rev. Isaac, a graduate of the Class of 2006. He currently serves at Taylor University and was accompanied by a team of students from the university who are pursuing various academic programs.
Their visit provided a wonderful opportunity for interaction, learning, and fellowship as they joined our students in classes and other university activities. The highlight of the visit was Rev. Isaac's inspiring message during our Tuesday chapel service.
Drawing his message from 1st Samuel 9:1–27, Rev. Isaac spoke on the topic “From Lost Donkeys to Divine Destiny.” He reflected on the story of Saul, who was sent on a seemingly ordinary assignment to search for his father's lost donkeys. What appeared to be a simple and insignificant task eventually led Saul to encounter God's greater purpose and destiny for his life.
Rev. Isaac humorously described donkeys as simple animals that spend much of their time eating grass “like a lawnmower.” Yet through this ordinary situation, God orchestrated an extraordinary assignment. He reminded the congregation that God often uses simple responsibilities and everyday opportunities to prepare His people for greater purposes.
One of the most impactful moments of the service was when he shared his personal testimony. He recounted how God worked in his life during his years as a student at Kenya Highlands University, opening doors and guiding him into opportunities he could never have imagined. His journey served as a powerful reminder of God's faithfulness and His ability to transform ordinary beginnings into remarkable destinies.
He challenged students and staff to remain faithful in their current assignments, emphasizing that faithfulness in small things often prepares individuals for greater responsibilities. He encouraged the congregation to serve God diligently wherever they are, trusting that God is working behind the scenes even when the destination is not yet visible.
Rev. Isaac concluded by reminding the congregation that God guides His children step by step. Even when circumstances seem unclear, God remains in control and is leading His people according to His divine plan.
We thank God for all our alumni across the globe and wish them God's blessings.

Our university community was greatly blessed during Thursday Chapel Service led by the non-teaching staff. Though they mostly serve behind the scenes, the non-teaching staff play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the university and contributing to the well-being of students and staff alike. Their leadership during the service was a wonderful reminder that every role in the university is important in God’s kingdom.
The speaker of the day, Pst. Benard Kirui, shared an inspiring message from Psalms 24:3–4 on the topic “Embracing God’s Call in Holiness.” Drawing from the scripture, he emphasized the importance of having clean hands and a pure heart before God. He reminded the congregation that holiness is not optional for believers, but a calling for everyone who desires to walk closely with God.
During his message, he challenged the congregation to reflect deeply on their spiritual lives. He noted that while many people attend church services regularly, some may not have truly given their lives to Christ. He encouraged everyone to seek genuine salvation, live in obedience to God, and pursue a life that reflects Christ in both character and actions.
The sermon served as a powerful call to self-examination and spiritual renewal. Congregation were reminded that true Christianity goes beyond outward appearance or religious activities; it begins with a transformed heart devoted to God.
As a university community, may we continue embracing God’s call in holiness, seeking Him sincerely, and allowing our lives to reflect His love and righteousness in all that we do.

Today, the university community was greatly blessed and honoured to have our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Kiplangat, speak to us during our Tuesday Chapel Service. He delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking message on the topic, Holiness in the University, drawing his sharing from 2 Timothy 2:20–21 and 1 Thessalonians 4:1.
Prof. Kiplangat reminded the congregation that God desires His people to live holy lives and become vessels of honour. He emphasized that holiness is not reserved for a few individuals, but is a calling for every believer, including students, lecturers, and university staff.
Addressing students, he encouraged them to uphold integrity throughout their academic journey, especially during examinations. He cautioned against cheating and dishonesty, reminding them that true success comes through hard work, discipline, and faithfulness to God. According to the Vice Chancellor, a vessel of honour demonstrates integrity even when no one is watching.
He further shared that holiness enables believers to understand and fulfill God’s purpose for their lives. Students were encouraged to exercise self-control, honour God with their bodies, and imitate Christ in their daily conduct. He challenged everyone to avoid anything that could easily lead them into sin or distract them from their spiritual growth.
Prof. Kiplangat also highlighted respect and fairness as important characteristics of vessels of honour. Speaking to lecturers and faculty members, he encouraged them to serve with integrity and fairness, reminding them to remain objective and to treat students with dignity and equality.
In his concluding remarks, he emphasized that vessels of honour are responsive to God’s call. God is searching for individuals that he can use to bring transformation to the university, the nation, and the world. He challenged the entire university community to rise and become instruments of positive change through holy living and faithful service.
The message was timely, impactful, and deeply aligned with the university’s semester theme on holiness.
