James Mwangi is the 72-year-old founder and owner of Sunshine Hotel Limited, an 84-room hotel in Kericho that’s one of the busiest in the region.
The hotel is known for hosting high-profile guests like former President Uhuru Kenyatta, President William Ruto, and the late Raila Odinga. It hit national headlines in 2018 when it turned away then Laikipia Woman Rep Catherine Waruguru and her lawyer husband William Kiget for failing to produce a marriage certificate.
Sunshine Hotel enforces a strict no-casual-dating policy: every couple must show a marriage certificate at check-in, a rule management refuses to bend even under pressure from MPs and former CSs.
Mwangi’s journey started from poverty. In the 1960s his education at Nakuru Bahati ended early when he couldn’t raise Ksh20 for school fees. His father was a cook for European settlers, and young Mwangi herded goats for 50 cents a month.
Despite the setbacks, he was passionate about hospitality. In 1989 he pooled Ksh20,000 with two friends to rent a kiosk at Tengecha Lane, Kericho and start an eatery. His friends quit when profits were slow, but Mwangi persisted.
His first customer, a mechanic, said the food was so bad he’d never eat it again. Mwangi kept practicing, learned to make chapatis and mandazis, and gradually built a customer base. He worked as cook, cashier, and waiter until hiring help and expanding.
By 1991 revenues allowed him to hire a manager and buy his first pickup. Investor Benjamin Tirop later offered him a 9-room commercial building at Tengecha Lane. Mwangi relaunched it as Sunshine Hotel, improved the menu, added guest rooms, and kept his core rules: no alcohol and no couples without marriage certificates.
From a kiosk with one kilo of meat and flour, he grew the business into an 84-room hotel that employs over 200 people. Today, Mwangi says his strict policy is about morals and protecting the hotel’s image.

SAD! 2 years ago, the family of Kili from Eldoret lost their son Rodney Kili in a terrifying farm accident, today, just less than a week, his sister June Chebet Kili passes away while undergoing medication.
Very much devastating to this family for losing two children in a span of 2 years!

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has three known wives, listed in order of seniority. His first wife is Jenifer Khainza Atwoli. She stays out of the public eye and is rarely seen with her husband. Atwoli has praised her for respecting their marriage, contrasting her with his second wife.
His second wife is Roselinda Simiyu, whom he married in 1996 when she was 30 and he was 47. He reportedly told her he was a divorcee at the time. Roselinda, a mother of three, had two children with Atwoli. Their marriage became turbulent after she ran for the Webuye West parliamentary seat against his wishes. Atwoli told Jeff Koinange on Citizen TV’s JKL Show that he needed someone at home to take care of him, which led him to marry his third wife. Roselinda later said she had no issue with him taking another wife, but claimed he had changed from the man she first knew. She also recalled supporting him heavily when he was working to become COTU boss, cooking for delegates without help.
Atwoli’s third wife is Mary Kilobi, a Kenyan Swahili news anchor who is 35 years younger than him. They married in 2018 and appear to be happy together despite the age difference. The couple spends time at their Kajiado home. Atwoli has said he married Mary because Roselinda chose politics over staying home.
There were also recent reports of a fourth wife in a hushed Kilifi ceremony, shared by Jamila Mbugua, but COTU dismissed those claims.

The late Ngeno’s wife, Nayianou Ntutu has caused a seismic disturbance across Yamune land after she was spotted in Doha enjoying Kanamba speciioo and Sh**ha while unleashing dangerous Amapiano dance moves barely two months after her husband successfully connected to Sayuni's unlimited WiFi.
The self-appointed Yamune Marriage Council of Elders has emerged breathing fire, accusing the widow of moving on at Formula One speed. According to the elders, she should currently be stationed at the matrimonial home conducting roll calls for cows, sheep, goats & chicken left behind by the late MP, instead of boarding flights and living her best life.
What these elders seem to have forgotten is that marriage vows clearly state, "Till death do us part”. Once the husband checked out and secured his heavenly residence permit, the contract officially expired. Please allow the young widow to breathe.
She is still young, vibrant, and operating on full factory settings. Life did not end when Mheshimiwa took the express lane to eternity. In fact, several healthy, energetic, and highly qualified gap-fillers like me are already warming up from the substitutes' bench, waiting for transfer opportunities.
The woman is entitled to laughter, happiness, soft life, and occasional exposure to high-voltage electricity should she choose. Let mjane enjoy life. The deceased has already moved to a neighborhood where network coverage is excellent and earthly complaints no longer apply. K**a kawa sisi walala hoii hatuna maoni, Letu Jicho tu.👀

This is Mercy Masai. She is allegedly one of the side hens receiving high voltage electricity from horizontal engineer himself, Sudi. Mercy recently changed her mode of dressing and lifestyle before announcing her Women Rep bid in Kajiado County. Her qualifications and manifesto remain unknown to the public, but she claims she is ripe enough to be accommodated in the corridors of power.
Only Sudi & Yehova Wanyonyi knows exactly which position in the corridor she qualifies for. Mercy now joins the growing list of socialites showing interest in the Women Rep seat, a position that has previously attracted Mumus like Nyakoina Nyamu.
Some of these women have been showing us Kata Kundus in HD but today, since they're interested in Political seats, they now dress like Martha Karua trying to cover their immorality.
Women Rep seat has become one of the most useless position that's wasting taxpayers money. 80% of women in parliament are high end prostitutes & are just there to satisfy Waheshimiwa’s sexual desires. But k**a kawa sisi walala hoii hatuna maoni, Letu Jicho tu. Tupatane kwa debe!!👀
