Karatina University yesterday hosted an information session on Chevening and Commonwealth Scholarships, facilitated by representatives from the British High Commission (BHC).

The session brought together staff and students interested in pursuing postgraduate studies in the UK, with participants receiving guidance on scholarship opportunities, eligibility requirements and the application process.

A key highlight of the session was the opportunity for participants to hear directly from one of our staff members who is currently pursuing further studies through a Commonwealth Scholarship. Sharing his personal experience, he guided students on the application journey and offered practical insights on pursuing and securing international scholarship opportunities.

The session provided an inspiring reminder that global academic opportunities are within reach and that members of the Karatina University community can successfully pursue them.

Karatina University, in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, has secured a British Academy research workshop grant to strengthen academic publishing and grant-writing capacity among Early Career Social Sciences Researchers in selected Kenyan universities.

The 24-month initiative will support 25 Early Career Researchers through training, mentorship and follow-up sessions, with the programme currently underway in Embu.

The workshop, which is currently underway at Mountain Breeze Hotel in Embu, was officially opened by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Linus Gitonga, who encouraged participants to see themselves not only as beneficiaries, but as future research leaders and mentors.

The initiative reflects Karatina University's commitment to strengthening research capacity, fostering academic excellence and empowering the next generation of researchers.
