At I Am Art Project, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to create, dream, and thrive.

A proud moment for our community.

We are honored to celebrate our founder, Juma Phillip (IAMJUMA), who has been featured in People Daily for his inspiring journey as a visual artist and for the vision behind I Am Art Project.

This recognition is not just about one artist,it reflects the creativity, resilience, and potential of the many talented young people in Kakuma. We remain committed to nurturing artistic talent, creating opportunities, and using art as a tool for learning, expression, and positive change.

Art doesn't end when the class ends.

Today, after our art session, I walked the children home to help ensure they got there safely. Some of them shared that they sometimes face harassment and have stones thrown at them on their way to and from our classes.

Every child deserves to learn in a safe environment without fear.
At I Am Art Project, our responsibility is not only to teach drawing and painting but also to create a space where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to dream.

We remain committed to nurturing the visual artists of tomorrow, but we cannot do it alone.

When children are given a safe space to create, they discover the courage to speak.

Today's I Am Art Project session was all about poetry and self-expression.

Our young artists wrote poems inspired by their own lives. Some shared their life stories, others wrote about their dreams, the beauty of Kakuma, and the unconditional love of their mothers.

Three brave children stood in front of everyone and recited their poems. It was emotional, inspiring, and a reminder that every child has a story worth hearing.

This is why I Am Art Project exists—not only to teach art, but to help children and youth discover their voices, express their emotions, and believe in themselves.

A special moment at I Am Art Creative Hub.

Today, we had the privilege of welcoming visitors and content creators who took time to interview us and learn about our journey. We shared our stories, dreams, challenges, and the vision behind I Am Art Creative Hub—an initiative rooted in the mission of I Am Art Project.

As visual artists from Kakuma, we spoke about who we are, why we started this space, and our desire to build a creative community where artists can learn, collaborate, grow, and inspire change through art.

It was encouraging to see how many people were amazed by what we are building from humble beginnings. Their interest reminded us that every big vision begins with a small step and the courage to start.

We believe this is more than a studio. It is a home for visual artists, a space where stories are shared, talents are nurtured, dreams are given a chance to grow, and creativity becomes a tool for hope and transformation.
