Launching Digital Learning for TVET and Vocational Training

Don Bosco Tech Kakuma has taken a major step towards transforming Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) by launching digital learning for its Electrical Wireman and Light Vehicle Mechanic (LVM) programmes.

The inaugural online classes, held on 15th July, brought together 30 Electrical Wireman students and 26 LVM students and were facilitated by Stephen Mwangi and Faith Munyalo from DBTech Africa through the Google Meet platform.

Through the DBTech Africa Learning Management System (LMS), students can now access self-paced digital courses that complement their practical training. In addition, partnerships with Festo Learning Experience (Germany) for Electrical Wireman and Electude Inspire for Light Vehicle Mechanics provide learners with industry-standard digital content that equips them with globally relevant technical skills.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in modernizing vocational education at Don Bosco Tech Kakuma, ensuring that our graduates are not only technically competent but also digitally skilled and better prepared for employment and entrepreneurship in today's evolving world of work.

At Don Bosco Tech Kakuma, we are pleased to continue issuing additional receipts for the Startup Kits Disbursement Event, generously sponsored by KGN.

We recognize that equipping individuals with technical and vocational skills alone is no longer sufficient. Meaningful empowerment requires a comprehensive approach that extends beyond training to include the tools and resources needed to begin a sustainable livelihood.

The startup kits are designed to bridge the gap between training and employment by enabling our graduates to confidently enter the job market, establish their own enterprises where possible, and apply the skills they have acquired. This initiative enhances their opportunities for self-reliance, economic participation, and long-term success.

We extend our sincere appreciation to KGN for their invaluable partnership and commitment to supporting youth empowerment and sustainable livelihoods. Together, we are creating pathways that enable our graduates not only to learn but also to thrive.

Don Bosco Tech Kakuma and Kenya Good Neighbours Strengthens Youth Entrepreneurship Through Start-up Kit Disbursement

As employment opportunities continue to decline, entrepreneurship has become an increasingly important pathway for young people to achieve economic independence. In response, Don Bosco Tech Kakuma, with the support of its partner Kenya Good Neighbours, continues to equip trainees with both technical and entrepreneurial skills that enable them to build sustainable livelihoods.
As part of this commitment, Don Bosco Tech Kakuma, in partnership with Kenya Good Neighbours, distributed business start-up kits to graduates from the Fashion/ Tailoring and Computer Operator programmes. The initiative aims to help trainees transition from vocational training to self-employment by providing them with the essential tools needed to start their own businesses.
Fashion and Tailoring graduates received sewing machines together with a range of business materials and accessories required to establish tailoring enterprises. These start-up kits will enable the graduates to begin offering professional tailoring services, generate income, and meet the growing demand for quality clothing and garment production within their communities.
Graduates from the Computer Operator programme were each provided with brand-new laptops to support their transition into the digital economy. The laptops will enable them to offer computer-related services such as data entry, document preparation, graphic design, digital literacy training, and other ICT solutions while also creating opportunities for freelance and remote work.
The start-up kit distribution reflects Don Bosco Tech Kakuma's commitment to ensuring that vocational training translates into meaningful economic opportunities. By combining technical skills, entrepreneurship training, and access to essential business tools, the institution is empowering young people to become self-reliant entrepreneurs, create employment for themselves and others, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the Kakuma and Kalobeyei communities.

Empowering Youth Through Entrepreneurship! 💼🚀
Don Bosco Tech Kakuma, with the support of its partners, recently conducted an Entrepreneurship Training Programme for trainees preparing to receive start-up kits. Facilitated by Mr. George Omondi Awuor of ActionPath Africa, the training equipped participants with practical skills to transform their technical expertise into successful businesses.
Throughout the programme, trainees learned essential business skills including entrepreneurial mindset development, market research, business planning, legal business registration, financial record-keeping, marketing, group management, and access to business financing. They also developed practical 30-, 60-, and 90-day action plans to guide the launch and growth of their enterprises.
By combining technical skills with entrepreneurship, Don Bosco Tech Kakuma continues to empower young people and refugee entrepreneurs to create sustainable livelihoods, generate employment, and contribute to the economic growth of the Kakuma and Kalobeyei communities.

Every year on 8th March, as the world marks International Women's Day, Don Bosco Kakuma proudly joins in celebrating the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women in our community.

As part of this special occasion, Don Bosco Kakuma distributes dignity kits to community members (thanks to donation from KDII and Swisscontact), promoting health, dignity, and empowerment for women and girls. This meaningful initiative is organized and managed by the dedicated female staff of Don Bosco Kakuma, whose commitment and compassion continue to make a lasting impact.

The event is proudly spearheaded by Judy Wamalwa, whose leadership and passion inspire collective action towards creating a more inclusive and supportive community for all.

Together, we celebrate women not only on this day but every day, recognizing their vital role in shaping stronger families, communities, and futures.
