When the sky dusked over the idyllic Olderkesi, Narok County on Friday, October 7, 2022, as the shadows got long and the night crept in, one thing was clear. It was not going to be a dark night. Not anymore.

The shop owners in the small shopping centre were not in a hurry to close, the people were not in a hurry to leave. From one shop emanated melodic Maasai tunes, serenading the cold windy night. The moon, as if on cue, had shown up in its splendor, complementing the street lights that had now taken over the shopping centre.

It's a windy, sunny Tuesday mid-morning in the remote but mesmerizing Olderkesi location, Narok County in Kenya. An enthusiastic population eagerly awaits the commissioning of the mini-grid being installed by the JKUAT SEED Center in the area to change their lives and catalyze entrepreneurial activities. The TUM SEED Center Director, Prof. Frank-Martin Belz , who made his maiden visit to the living lab, expressed hope in seeing Okderkesi light up very soon.
"In the next few months, I hope to see power. Power in the literal electrical term of energy, and also power in seeing women and youth empowered as a result of this project," Prof. Belz opined.
He was accompanied by the JKUAT team led by Eng. Hiram Ndiritu, Prof. W***y Muturi, and Mr. Dennis Koech.
