Nairobi’s literary season begins next week.
The 27th Nairobi International Book Fair, organised by Kenya Publishers Association opens at Sarit Expo Centre from September 23–27 under the theme Read, Think, Lead.
The five-day fair will bring together readers, authors, publishers, teachers, booksellers and other players in the book industry.
More than 60,000 visitors are expected, including thousands of children and young readers.
But NIBF is about more than buying books. It is a meeting place for ideas, publishing partnerships, literary talent and conversations about the future of reading.
As smartphones and AI reshape how we consume information, the question remains: do books still matter?
The young readers walking through Sarit’s doors may provide the answer.
