The Tharaka University 530KM Charity Walk entered its fifth day today, with participants taking to the streets of Nanyuki Town in Laikipia County as the campaign to raise KSh50 million for the University's Endowment Fund continues to gather momentum.
Led by Tharaka University Charity Walk Ambassador Mr. Issack Gacugo, the team was joined by Dr. James Ndwiga, Director of Admissions and Marketing, Dr. Urbanus Ndolo, Director of Resource Mobilization and Advancement, Dr. Eric D.K. Ngetich, Senior Lecturer, Physical Education & Sports Sciences, Mr. Moses Wamuru, Gacugo's coach, staff, student leaders, students, and fellow walk ambassadors.
The participants engaged residents, businesses, and well-wishers across Nanyuki Town, creating awareness about the fundraising initiative and appealing for support towards the University's Endowment Fund. The fund seeks to provide scholarships and financial assistance to bright but financially vulnerable students, ensuring that deserving learners can pursue their education without financial barriers.
After completing the Nanyuki leg of the campaign, students, members of staff, and fellow walk ambassadors escorted Mr. Gacugo to Narumoru, where he officially set off for Nyeri County to continue the charity walk. The team wished him well as he embarked on the next phase of the journey, carrying forward the University's message of hope and opportunity for financially vulnerable students.
The charity walk continues to attract growing public interest and support as the team advances towards its goal of raising KSh50 million, reaffirming Tharaka University's commitment to expanding access to quality higher education through partnerships, philanthropy, and community involvement.
