Performance Contract Negotiation FY 2026/2027

North Eastern National Polytechnic today successfully held its Performance contract Negotiation Meeting with the Cabinet secretary Ministry education reaffirming its commitment to institutional excellence, accountability, and results-oriented service delivery.
The negotiations were led by our governing council chairman Hon Adan Mohamed Noor,EBS, CEO/Principal North Eastern National polytechnic Mr. Abdullahi Omar Sheikh,our deputy Principal Academic, Procurement officer, PC coordinator.

The engagement provided a strategic platform for reviewing organizational priorities, aligning performance targets with the institution’s mandate, and strengthening a culture of continuous improvement. Through collaborative dialogue and evidence-based planning, the Polytechnic demonstrated its dedication to enhancing operational efficiency, quality training, and sustainable institutional growth.

The North Eastern National Polytechnic Partners with KeNHA and World Bank to Boost Regional Youth Skilling
​GARISSA, KENYA — The Principal of The North Eastern National Polytechnic today hosted a delegation from the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to discuss collaborative strategies for youth empowerment and the advancement of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) agenda.
​Through the World Bank-funded Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP), KeNHA is currently sponsoring high-impact scholarship programs for students hailing from Meru, Isiolo, Garissa, and Wajir counties. This partnership highlights the polytechnic’s strategic role as a premier educational hub, dedicated to supplying Northern Kenya’s youth with market-driven, practical skills.
​Speaking at the meeting, the Principal noted, "The North Eastern National Polytechnic is a true game-changer for the region. By aligning with partners like KeNHA and the World Bank, we ensure our youth are uniquely equipped to meet the evolving demands of modern industry."

​Why this Project Matters
​The Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP) is a massive, multi-billion shilling initiative aimed at improving regional integration and road infrastructure (specifically upgrading the Isiolo-Mandera corridor). By pairing physical infrastructure development with educational sponsorships for local youth, KeNHA and the World Bank are ensuring that local communities actually have the technical skills to build, maintain, and economically benefit from these new corridors.

ILO PROSPECTS Digital Skilling and Employment Opportunity Programme – June 2026 Cohort
Power Learn Project (PLP), in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), is inviting applications for the ILO PROSPECTS Digital Skilling and Employment Opportunity Programme. This initiative is designed to equip refugee and host community youth in Turkana and Garissa Counties with market-relevant digital skills, industry-recognised certifications, and clear pathways to employment.
Delivered through community-based digital hubs, the programme aims to:
Provide accessible, practical digital skills training
Strengthen local digital ecosystems
Expand economic and employment opportunities for host community and refugee youth
Who Can Apply
Applicants must be 18 years and above
Open to both host community and refugee youth in Garissa and Turkana Counties
share to all.

At the beautiful almond hotel garden, the senior management team from the North Eastern National Polytechnic gathered for a dinner hosted by our principal Mr. Omar Sheikh to reflect and deliberate on the way forward towards making NENAP Great again. The principal thanked the team for the support and asked them to give more input in delivering their mandate. The team gave commitment to doing their best to give the best quality to our trainees. Together we rise.

The International labour organisation and Power learn project visit to the North Eastern National polytechnic Jitume Hub, they came to inspect our Hub in the onboarding of Hubs ahead of Advanced Digital skills training for Youth in Garissa county where over 800 youth in Garissa will be trained in advanced digital skills for 18 months and international certification by Microsoft done after which they will be transitioned to digital jobs 60% transition rate.
This scholarship will enable youth to enroll into important training for free that can guarantee them sustainable livelihood through skills acquisition in the world of digital economy.
It is a great opportunity, I call upon the Youth to take this opportunity and be ready to be empowered.

Yesterday, North Eastern National Polytechnic proudly joined education stakeholders, leaders, and the Wajir community at the Academic Forum held at Waberi Primary School as part of the preparations for this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir County.

The forum, themed “TVET and the Future” under the national Madaraka Day theme “Education, Skills and the Future,” highlighted the critical role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in transforming lives, empowering youth, and driving Kenya’s economic growth.

The event was graced by the Principal Secretary for TVET, Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria, who officially laid the foundation stone symbolizing the government’s commitment to strengthening skills development, innovation, and quality education across the country.

Our Principal, Abdullah Omar, together with the research team from North Eastern National Polytechnic, attended the forum and engaged in discussions focused on the future of education, skills training, digital innovation, and youth empowerment in Northern Kenya.

As Wajir prepares to host the historic Madaraka Day celebrations for the very first time, the county continues to showcase its growing importance as a center for education, development, inclusion, and opportunity.
