MCC works to create equitable learning opportunities for youths in rural and slums areas of Kenya

Makongo Computer College was registered in 2021 by a youthful change-maker out of her lived experiences, is a learning platform that engages youths. currently supporting the learning needs of undeserved youths living in Mukuru kwa Ruben Slums, in Embakasi, Nairobi county. The major target group for this project is the youths; high school students, school dropouts, teenage mothers, together with al

l those that are interested in the program. After the training, the youths are engaged in different activities hence enabling them to be able to set up income generating projects so as to earn a living. Imparting these youths with basic computer knowledge will enable them to improve their living standards and the standards for the Mukuru Community for they will get exposed and learn there is life outside Mukuru slums hence work hard to bring change home. They will also be able to access opportunities shared online easily for growth and development purposes.

37 MCC fellows who have been trained at MCC have been able to secure themselves jobs in various fields; supermarkets, cybers and other places which we have partnered with, this has enabled them to earn hence improving their living standards

Join us in our goal to expand the minds of the young people and make a difference in their lives. Together, we can improve the minds and lives of the young people in Mukuru.

At Makongo Computer College, we remain committed to supporting the learning needs of youths in Mukuru by offering practical, market-relevant skills through affordable and flexible programs.

We are excited to share that we officially started our training yesterday, 2nd February 2026, with an orientation session for both Computer Studies and Dressmaking & Tailoring. It was a great start as we welcomed learners ready to gain skills, grow their confidence, and shape their future.

Our mission is to ensure that young people—especially school leavers, school dropouts, and young mothers—can access quality skills training, mentorship, and life skills that prepare them for work, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods.

Together, we are building skills, opportunity, and hope in Mukuru and beyond. 💙

We’re inviting students from junior and senior schools, as well as any interested members of our community, to join our holiday computer training program at Makongo Computer College.
