Hadithi
Siku moja Abunuwasi alikuwa na shida iliyomhitaji kumwona Sultani. Alipofika langoni mwa ikulu, mlinzi alimzuia asiingie. Abunuwasi alimsihi sana amruhusu kwa kuwa alikuwa na jambo la dharura.
Mlinzi alijua kuwa Abunuwasi alikuwa kipenzi cha Sultani na mara nyingi hakurudi mikono mitupu. Kwa tamaa ya kupata sehemu ya zawadi, mlinzi akasema:
"Nitakuachia uingie, lakini chochote utakachopewa na Sultani tutagawana nusu kwa nusu."
Abunuwasi akakubali.
Alipoingia mbele ya Sultani, Sultani alishangaa kuona uso wake wenye huzuni.
"Abunuwasi, leo unaonekana mwenye mawazo. Niambie shida yako."
Lakini badala ya kuomba fedha au msaada, Abunuwasi alisema:
"Sultani wangu, naomba niamuru nichapwe viboko mia."
Sultani alishangaa sana.
"Kwa kosa gani?"
Abunuwasi akajibu:
"Hakuna kosa. Naomba tu nichapwe viboko mia."
Baada ya kusisitiza mara kadhaa, Sultani akaamuru askari wamchape viboko mia, lakini kwa utaratibu.
Walipofika viboko hamsini, Abunuwasi akapaza sauti:
"Sultani wangu, tafadhali simamisheni."
Sultani akauliza:
"Kwa nini? Si uliomba viboko mia?"
Abunuwasi akajibu kwa utulivu:
"Kweli, lakini nilifanya makubaliano na mlinzi wa langoni kwamba chochote nitakachopata kutoka kwako tutagawana nusu kwa nusu. Nimepokea viboko hamsini; nusu iliyobaki ni haki yake."
Sultani alielewa mara moja kilichokuwa kimetokea. Akatambua kwamba mlinzi alikuwa ametumia vibaya mamlaka yake kwa kutaka kujinufaisha. Akaamuru mlinzi apewe viboko hamsini vilivyobaki k**a sehemu yake ya "mgawo."
