Today, as the world celebrates World Environment Day, we at Kijana School take time to reflect on our contribution towards addressing global warming and protecting our planet.

At Kijana School, we believe that environmental stewardship begins at an early age. We intentionally nurture our learners to love, care for, and protect the Earth so that these values remain with them as they grow into responsible citizens and future leaders.

Over the years, we have achieved significant milestones in environmental conservation through tree planting initiatives within the school and by distributing tree seedlings to surrounding communities and beyond. We firmly believe that creating a safer, healthier, and greener world is a shared responsibility that requires collective action from all of us.

Our commitment to environmental conservation is strengthened through the Kijana Care, Share and Explore Program, a school-based initiative dedicated to promoting environmental awareness, conservation, and sustainability. Through this program, we have raised thousands of tree seedlings, planted numerous trees, and empowered young people to become champions of environmental protection.

As a school, we are proud to lead by example in environmental matters. We have partnered with several public schools to promote environmental conservation and create lasting positive impact. One notable success story is Buchenya Primary School, which has grown into a model institution for environmental conservation and is now a benchmarking center for others. We extend our sincere appreciation to the school's patron, Bilha Maraba, for her dedication and commitment to making this vision a reality.

As we commemorate World Environment Day, we reaffirm our commitment to making our Earth greener, healthier, and more sustainable for future generations. Together, let us plant more trees, protect biodiversity, and take meaningful action to preserve the environment that sustains us all.

Proud moments for Kijana Global Innovation School! 🎶🏆

Yesterday at the Butere Sub-County Music Festival Competition, our talented learners presented 32 items, with an incredible 24 qualifying for the County Level Competition to be held at St. Peter’s Boys National School next month.

This achievement reflects the dedication of our students, trainers, teachers, and management. From orchestra to solo verses and instrumental performances, our learners showcased excellence, creativity, and talent.

As the “Gentle Giants of Butere,” we remain focused, determined, and ready to shine even brighter at the county level. Congratulations to all our performers and supporters for this remarkable success! 🌟🎻🎼

kijana recent excursion trip!!!

During this second term, we are delighted to welcome all our students back from the holiday break. We are happy to report that the holiday period was both exciting and educational for our learners.

During the holiday, Kijana School organized an educational excursion trip that provided students with an opportunity to visit and learn from various environmental and historical sites. Our Grade 5 to Grade 9 students participated in an environmental excursion to Nakuru, where they camped for three nights at Matfam in Lanet.

This meaningful trip was fully sponsored by the Kijana Educational Empowerment Initiative under the Care, Share and Explore Program. The excursion focused on environmental education, giving students practical exposure and helping them connect classroom learning with real-life experiences. At Kijana, we believe in giving learners opportunities to explore, discover, and apply what they learn beyond the classroom environment.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all our partners who made this memorable excursion possible. Special thanks go to the parents for entrusting us with their children, to our teachers for their dedication and guidance throughout the trip, and to our supporters and partners whose contributions continue to make such impactful programs possible.

One of the unique identities of Kijana is our commitment to providing transformative learning experiences for students. We are also grateful that, through the support of our partners, parents were not charged any fee for this excursion trip

Our interview during the French Day competition held at Green Mount Academy in Kakamega was truly a wonderful experience. It provided a meaningful opportunity and valuable exposure for our students.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated teachers, Madam Phyllis Kadogo and Christabel Nechesa, for guiding us toward this important milestone.

We look forward to participating in more competitions in the future. In Kenya, we strongly believe in giving our students opportunities to explore and celebrate diverse cultures.

On Saturday, 14th March 2026, students from Kijana Global Innovation School participated in a French competition held at Green Mount Academy in Kakamega, hosted by Voix de France. The event brought together five schools to celebrate French language and culture through activities such as poetry, modelling, drama, and dance.

Our students performed exemplarily well across several categories. In the modelling category, the school achieved 3rd position, while the French dance team also secured 3rd position. In poetry (solo verse), Jayden Sandagi emerged 1st place, and our play emerged position 1 st showcasing exceptional talent and confidence.

Overall, our students delivered an outstanding performance, and the school community is extremely proud of them. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated teachers, Phylis Kadogo and Christabel Nechesa, for their commitment and excellent preparation of the students.

At Kijana Global Innovation School, we strongly embrace cultural diversity and strive to provide meaningful opportunities that expose our learners to global languages and cultures.

During the event, our student Miracle Praiz together with teacher Phylis Kadogo was interviewed by NTV Kenya. In the interview, they advocated for the wider adoption of the French language in both public and private schools, noting that many institutions in the country have yet to introduce the subject despite its global importance.

We successfully launched our local excursion trips for upper primary students. The school continues to provide a conducive learning environment that promotes experiential and outdoor learning alongside classroom instruction.
During the excursion, students enthusiastically engaged in nature discovery activities. They explored different tree species and had opportunities to observe dragonflies and various bird species, making the experience both educational and enjoyable.
Students from Grade 4 and Grade 5 visited River Firatsi as part of their environmental studies, with a focus on water conservation. At the site, students were actively involved in explaining ways of protecting water sources and identifying methods of reducing water pollution. This hands-on approach helped deepen their understanding of environmental responsibility.
While at River Firatsi, students observed that the river water is currently unsafe for human consumption due to extensive human activities along its banks. These activities include farming close to the river and the widespread planting of eucalyptus trees, which consume large amounts of water. Students were advised that bamboo is a better alternative, as it helps prevent soil erosion, supports riverbank protection, and plays a significant role in mitigating climate change. Bamboo absorbs more carbon dioxide and releases more oxygen, making it environmentally friendly.

Hello, and welcome to another wonderful day as we warmly receive our amazing students back after a long holiday.

As we begin this academic year, we look forward to welcoming even more students as the week progresses. This year, we have introduced a wider range of activities designed to nurture each learner according to their unique abilities and talents.

Kijana raised the bar last year when our Kijana Band demonstrated exceptional skill, advancing to the national level during competitions and bringing nationwide recognition to our school. Building on this success, we are hopeful that our formidable band will go even further beyond the national level this year.

In addition to music, our students will enjoy more exploratory and educational trips that enrich their learning experience.
