Bomet University was honoured with the Mara River Conservation and Management Champion Trophy and Certificate in recognition of its commitment to the conservation and sustainable management of the Mara ecosystem. The award, presented during the 15th Mara Day Celebration in Bomet Town, reflects the University's continued dedication to environmental conservation and sustainability.

Today, Bomet University marked an important milestone with the inauguration and swearing-in of the Chairperson and Members of the University Council.

We congratulate the new Council as it takes up the responsibility of providing strategic leadership, governance and oversight to guide the University towards greater growth and excellence.

On Tuesday, 15th September 2026, Bomet University hosted a tree planting exercise that brought together leaders and other stakeholders from Kenya and Tanzania, as the 15th Mara Day celebrations concluded in Bomet County.

The exercise underscores the importance of environmental conservation and regional collaboration in safeguarding the Mara ecosystem.

As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and its identity as a green university, Bomet University continues to work alongside other stakeholders to protect and restore key Mara tributaries, including the Nyangores and Amalo Rivers.

On Tuesday, 1st September, 2026, Bomet University led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Charles Mutai, welcomed a delegation from the National Defence University of Kenya (NDU-K), led by its Vice-Chancellor, Lieutenant General David K. C. Tarus, MGH, CBS, ‘ndc’(K), ‘cgsc’(USA), ‘psc’(K).

The delegation toured the University before Lieutenant General Tarus delivered a thought-provoking public lecture on “Youth, Education and National Security in a Changing World.”

The lecture highlighted the power of education in shaping informed, responsible and resilient young people capable of contributing to national development and security in an ever-changing world.

The visit strengthened the bond between the two institutions and opened new opportunities for knowledge exchange, partnership and collaboration in the shared pursuit of a stronger and more secure nation.

Earlier today, Bomet University held a colorful matriculation ceremony of the 2026/2027 cohort for the first-year students, The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Mutai, led the University in welcoming the new students.

He encouraged the freshmen to embrace academic excellence, become responsible citizens and nurture an innovative mindset that can develop meaningful solutions to the challenges facing society today.

Today, Bomet University Vice Chancellor Prof. Charles Mutai and Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Patrick Ojera hosted a team of auditors led by the Deputy Auditor General, FCPA Edwin Kamar on a courtesy call during the 2025/2026 Audit Circle. Bomet University appreciates the Office of the Auditor-General for the engagement and continued commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and good governance in public institutions.

The Vice Chancellor of Bomet University, Prof. Charles Mutai, today received Prof. Joseph Kirui of the University of Kabianga, during a courtesy call ahead of Prof. Kirui’s one-year sabbatical at Bomet University.

Prof. Kirui generously donated three books he has authored; Research Methodology for Social Sciences (A Practical Approach), Kalenjin Orature (Proverbs, Idioms and Riddles), A Dictionary of Kalenjin Proverbs and their English and Swahili Equivalents.

The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by Prof. Johnmark Obura, Dean, School of Business & Economics, and Dr. Clement Nkaabu, HoD, Management Science.
