DOWEA is a field activity of the Office of the Secretary of War. It is headed by a director who oversees all agency functions from DOWEA headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. DOWEA's schools are divided into three regions; DOWEA Europe; DOWEA Pacific; and DOWEA Americas. 🇯🇵 Konnichiwa! Do you have summer travel plans in Japan? ☀️🚄

Our 4th grade students have been learning about the prefectures of Japan and researching historical sites throughout the country. As part of their studies, students identified which prefectures these sites are located in and created presentations to share their learning.

We’re excited to share their work with you as you plan your summer adventures! Take a moment to explore the slides below, where each student highlights a unique historical site and its significance.

🇯🇵 2026 Grade 5: Timeline of Japan’s History 🇯🇵

Our 5th grade students explored the historical periods of their host nation and thoughtfully curated a variety of digital resources to create this interactive timeline for family and friends. Through research, collaboration, and creativity, students deepened their understanding of Japan’s rich history and culture.
