[Campus Life]
It's already July. Although the rainy season is still with us here in Japan, you can already feel the changing seasons on the Toyonaka Campus.

The abelia in the last photo is blooming quietly and gently along the main street, even in the rain. One of the things that makes abelia so special is its long blooming season, which lasts from early summer through autumn.

On Monday, June 8, 2026, we were pleased to welcome a delegation from the University of Turin, Italy—including Prof. Luisella Celi (Vice Rector for Research) and Prof. David Lembo (Vice Rector for International Relations)—to our Graduate School of Science.

During the visit, we held discussions aimed at the full-scale implementation of the Double Degree Program (DDP) agreement signed in June 2024.

Building on these discussions, we look forward to further strengthening the partnership between our two universities and exploring concrete opportunities for student and research exchanges, including the DPP.

These photos were taken on Toyonaka campus, the University of Osaka. Many people go through without any attention, but this flower, hydrangea, grew up to bloom strongly. Wouldn't it be nice to take such a beautiful view every once in awhile?

[Research Update] A press release has been issued: “Two proteins, one goal: new findings on stem cell differentiation”
Research led by Assistant Prof. Takamasa Ito, Prof. Chiaki Obuse, and colleagues (Dept. of Biological Sciences) has been published in Cell Reports. They found that the zinc finger proteins RLF and ZFP292 assist in stabilizing the CoREST corepressor complex at gene promoters in embryonic stem cells, preventing differentiation.
