We welcomed a family of six: The father is from Mexico, the mother is from Colombia, and the children were all born in the U.S.
They all love sushi, and they showed a great interest in the ingredients we used, including the red vinegar for the rice used in Edomae Sushi, and the fresh wasabi.
The thing that made me happiest was to see the children, even the younger ones, participating enthusiastically.

We welcomed a mother and daughter from San Francisco.
The ten-year-old daughter was very good with knives, saying “I participated in a cooking class at school.”
The mother, who loves sushi, enjoyed the class, saying “Now I can make sushi myself at home!”
They said that they joined a soba (buckwheat noodle) making class just yesterday.
It was easy to see how much they value their mother-daughter time together.

We welcomed five guests involved in a theater production, including two performers who are visiting Japan from Denmark to put on the show.
They love sushi so much that they have been eating it almost every day that they are in Japan.
They enjoyed the lesson, saying “Sushi is especially delicious when you make it yourself!” and “This was such a valuable experience!!”

We welcomed a family of four from New Jersey.
The whole family loves sushi, and they were impressed by our sushi rice made with red vinegar.
They handled the knives and made nigiri sushi skillfully, and created wonderful sushi plates.
One of the boys told us, “Japan is very popular these days among American people my age.”
We really appreciate guests who come not just to eat Japanese food, but to experience Japanese culture as well.

We welcomed a group of five Japanese ladies who love cooking.
It was a very enjoyable time, with some very talented guests, including one who makes sweets using rice flour, one who grows hops and makes beer, a beekeeper, and a chopstick teacher.
From the preparation stage right through to making nigiri sushi, I was very happy to hear them say “We learned a lot of new things!”

We welcomed a couple from Usedom Island, which sits on the border between Germany and Poland (they were from the Polish side).
The island has Poland’s longest beach; it is a breathtakingly beautiful resort region, but this couple currently lives in the UK.
They both love sushi, and came to AKEMI's SUSHiKiTCHEN in search of a class that would teach them all the skills they would need to make sushi themselves.
They paid close attention right from the preparation stage, and each created their own lovely sushi plates.

We welcomed a family of four from Colorado.
Their visit to Japan is a celebration of their older daughter’s entry into university.
The whole family are fans of sushi, although it is difficult to get fresh fish in Colorado, which is located in the central western United States.

Everyone was very skilled at making sushi; not just the ladies, but the men as well.
Once you master making sushi rolls, you can easily create Korean Kimpa just by changing the rice and the fillings.
