When I first started training nearly two decades ago, I pushed far beyond what my body was ready for.⁣

My plan was poorly balanced.⁣

I had little to no idea what I was doing.⁣

This led to painful shoulder impingement. ⁣

That injury taught me one of the most important lessons that has helped me stay consistent for over a decade.⁣

Learning from this lesson helped me safely progress to deadlifting over 600 pounds.⁣

It also helped me achieve my dream physique goals through years of proper training.⁣

It taught me the importance of training intelligently.⁣

As I’m preparing for an Ironman 70.3 with little background in focused endurance training, that same lesson is speaking to me again.⁣

Connective tissues need time to catch up to new stresses.⁣

I can already tell this journey will require patience and putting any ego aside.⁣

Just a reminder to train hard, but to also train smart.⁣

It’s about the long game.⁣

👉 Share this with someone who needs this reminder today. ⁣

Forging Further - Ep. 01⁣

I just signed up for something completely out of my comfort zone.⁣

I’ve never done a half marathon.⁣

I’ve never done a triathlon.⁣

I haven’t properly swum in years.⁣

For over a decade, my focus has been on physique and strength - not endurance.⁣

Yet, I signed up for an Ironman 70.3.⁣

Why?⁣

To challenge myself and grow in a new arena that feels exciting.⁣

To experience the feeling of being a “beginner” again - to learn and grow.⁣

To forge beyond my areas of expertise.⁣

And to hopefully inspire those of you who want to prioritize your fitness and health - even when it’s scary.⁣

That’s what this series is going to be about.⁣

Forging further.⁣

Follow along for the journey.⁣

Over 50 pounds lost.⁣

Sustained for nearly 4 years.⁣

This is Alejandro Sanchez, an engineer at SpaceX who works on rockets.⁣

This weekend, we met in person for the first time after working together remotely back in 2022.

He invited me to his new home, and we spent some time reflecting on what he’s achieved since.⁣

Years ago, he came in at around a 38” waist, size XL.⁣

He felt stuck and was spinning his wheels and confused from all the conflicting advice out there.⁣

His health was at risk, and he knew something needed to change.⁣

Fast forward to now...

He's built a lean, athletic physique, around a 31” waist, size M.⁣

Running half marathons under 100 minutes.⁣

Hitting one-arm push-ups.⁣

Squatting close to 2x his bodyweight.⁣

No shortcuts.⁣

No training beyond what his body could handle.⁣

No drugs or surgery.⁣

Just a system built around his life and the discipline to follow through.⁣

What I’m most proud of isn’t just the weight he lost...⁣

It's who he became in the process.⁣

The habits and skills he built.⁣

The inspiration he has become.

The energy, fulfillment, and progress he's created.

And the fact that he’s sustained his results for years.⁣

This is what real transformation looks like.⁣

Moments like this are why I still do what I do.⁣

We’ve also been working on something exciting behind the scenes…⁣

For engineers and other analytical minds looking to take control of their health and fitness in a more sustainable way...

This is being built with you in mind.

Been taking some time offline lately to reflect deeply. A health gala, ziplining, basketball, lots of reading and learning. Interesting things in the works 🙏

Moments like these are some of the greatest joys in life.⁣

Over the past month, spending quality time with family during the holidays has been so special.⁣

This right here is one of the most special moments.⁣

Watching my little niece grow up as a young basketball star has been such an honor and pleasure.⁣

Seeing her progress and increased confidence brings so much happiness.⁣

So proud of her dedication and commitment to her craft as an athlete.⁣

Keep up the great work 💪

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!⁣

“I wish I had started earlier” ⁣

This is a statement I’ve heard from people who finally begin taking their health and fitness seriously.⁣

Most people don’t realize they’re delaying their life…⁣

Until years have already passed.⁣

They wait for “later” to get in shape.⁣

“Later” to travel.⁣

“Later” to pursue goals they care about.⁣

But “later” isn’t necessarily when life gets easier.⁣

It’s often when your body naturally begins to slow down.⁣

And just because many people fall into this pattern…⁣

Doesn’t mean you should.⁣

In fact, the people who thrive long-term - in their health, energy and overall fulfillment...⁣

Are usually the ones who choose to prioritize their well-being before life forces them to.⁣

Now of course, anyone can become stronger and more capable at almost any age.⁣

Many people do when they finally start.⁣

But beginning earlier gives you more years of momentum, more years of strength, and a stronger foundation.⁣

I can’t recall someone saying they regretted starting earlier.⁣

But I’ve heard people say they wished they didn’t wait so long.⁣

You don’t just run out of time.⁣

You run out of HEALTHY time.⁣

Yes, taking care of priorities like work and family matters.⁣

But remember: the potential for your strongest, most capable years are often the ones you’re living now.⁣

Invest in them intentionally.⁣

Don’t wait for “later.”⁣

Most people do… and most people wish they hadn’t.⁣

Honoring Kal, an inspiring data scientist and engineer, today for his amazing journey over the past 6 months 💪⁣

Kal had many reasons he could have put fitness on the backburner due to his incredibly busy lifestyle.

He’s a husband.⁣

A father.⁣

He also works full-time in healthcare IT as a data scientist, data architect and a data engineer.⁣

He even teaches graduate students in a technology program!⁣

Yet, he chose to make his health and fitness a priority.

Kal had lost weight before but yo-yo’d.⁣

He tried fad diets but weight always came back.⁣

Then he found us.⁣

He now fits into clothes from over 20 years ago.⁣

He lost over 25 pounds in less than 6 months.⁣

His energy level has increased to back when he was in his late 20s/early 30s.⁣

We designed a program around his specific needs.⁣

We adjusted exercise alternatives based on his preferences and goals.⁣

We applied a holistic approach to support him as best we could.⁣

And in his words, he felt it was a “well-rounded holistic approach…like more of a lifestyle change.”⁣

If you’re looking for inspiration, I invite you to listen to Kal’s journey and experience!⁣

Spicing up training with calisthenics is an amazing way to prevent boredom with training 🙏

If you’re looking to challenge your core strength and upper body strength, these are a few of my favorite calisthenic moves to train or incorporate into the routine.

1. Dynamic Front Levers
2. Wide Grip Pull-Ups
3. Hanging Leg Raises

Dynamic front levers are an incredible movement that targets your core and back strength.

Feel free to give these a go if you are looking to build and share with anyone you feel might benefit! 💪
