No longer excited by what you’re doing but clueless about what to do next?
Maybe you’re second-guessing yourself in situations that used to feel solid.
Maybe things that once made logical sense now feel like a chore.
Maybe people are impressed by your accomplishments, but you can’t help but feel ‘meh’ about it.
This was the path you once couldn’t wait to celebrate. But now, it’s not lighting you up the same way.
Each day goes by with a subtle sense of disconnect:
“Am I on the right path?”
“Why can’t I feel motivated?”
“Is something wrong with me?”
The answer? No. You’re just experiencing IDENTITY FRICTION.
Identity Friction is when who you used to be and who you’re becoming are colliding.
It shows up in your decision-making, your energy, and your confidence.
It especially happens when:
✨ You’re in a new environment (new job or new country) and wonder who you are here
✨ You’ve outgrown your role (you know what’s NOT right but can’t see what IS)
✨ A project ends, and you’re not sure whether to keep going or shift directions
Basically, it shows up during times of transition.
It can feel scary…but it’s also full of possibility!
Because what you CAN trust in this space is your curiosity.
What are you curious to explore? Experience? Challenge?
I’m in a season of Identity Friction myself.
My identity used to be a single, external corporate trainer & leadership coach.
Now? My identity is all of that + mom.
What once lit me up no longer fits.
Before, I valued going out to connect.
Now: Inviting people to me.
Before: Helping with work problems.
Now: Supporting personal evolution.
So what I’m curious about right now is:
✨ What would it be like to have people come to my office for in-person sessions?
✨ What would it be like to build a regular schedule?
✨ What would it be like to work with anyone exploring inner leadership (not just those with “leader” in their title)?

I often get asked why I chose to put this art in my office (and this particular kanji, “woman”) so here’s the story!
Before I was born, my mom won the Japan national championship for calligraphy.
She gifted the winning piece to my dad as a wedding present, and it hangs in the home I grew up in in Florida.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve been begging her to do a calligraphy for me. I wanted to have something by her that I could cherish.
But she kept brushing it off - she was out of practice, she didn’t have the materials, she’d want to get back into it first, etc.
It’s hard to produce something when you have a high standard for yourself and know what perfection could look like, so I get it.
But I didn’t give up 😂
One day several years ago, I decided I had to make it happen somehow.
So I bought some canvas, got out a paintbrush and black paint and was like “Look mom, it’s all set up so just do your thing.”
The reason why I asked her to do 女 (woman) is because I saw a beautiful painting of what I thought was an abstract art piece.
Upon closer look, I realized it was 女 but with each stroke in a different color. That realization that it said “woman” suddenly hit me and the art felt so powerful.
Anyway, so in the end, my mom finally did it 😂 And little did she know, I got it framed whether she thought it was good or not 🤷🏻♀️
Fun fact about this is she did it with a flat paint brush and acrylic paint - not a calligraphy brush nor ink.
What’s something meaningful to you in your workspace?

Welcomed two lovely people to the first edition of Sento Circle drop in coaching!
Here’s what went down 👇
Even though their two topics and situations were completely different, the core of the challenges were the same…
1) Dealing with uncertainty (trying to take action from a place of desire rather than a place of avoiding failure)
2) Feeling scattered and overwhelmed (not by negative things but by too many options or possibilities)
3) Juggling competing timelines (dedicating time to what provides stability while building something that may take time)
Both were in a season of transition.
One had just wrapped up a major project and was wondering “what’s next?”.
The other had recently settled in Japan and was wondering the same.
It made me realize how often we’re carrying the mental weight of being in-between.
And that got me thinking…
If you too are wondering “What’s next!?”…would it be helpful if I hosted a short, focused workshop on navigating that messy middle (what tends to come up and how to move forward with more clarity)?
If that sounds like something you’d join, drop a comment or DM me. I’ll put it together based on interest ✨

Last night I had a wonderful opportunity to discuss The Sento Mindset with the Association for Women in Finance!
Using public bathing as a metaphor, we discussed the concept of stepping out of our comfort zone, how the steps in transformation are surprisingly predictable, and leveraged insights from our bathing experiences to apply to current challenges.
I admire these driven women who openly shared their experiences, challenges, goals and questions.
Thanks for having me, AWF!

Big thanks to my friend for the office warming flowers! I forgot that people usually announce an office move and start off with celebratory flowers so it’s nice to receive these 🥰
