A global think tank for the United Nations system The United Nations University was established in 1972 by the UN General Assembly.

Through generous support from the Government of Japan, which offered headquarters facilities in Tokyo and contributed to an endowment fund, the University launched its academic work in September 1975. Over the past four decades, the University has grown to become a global system of institutes and programmes in 12 countries.

⌛️ Final Call for Applications

As computational methods continue to reshape research across the social sciences, agent based modelling has become an increasingly valuable tool for understanding complex economic and social systems.

Join us this September in Maastricht for a week learning agent based modelling. This year's course examines the opportunities and limitations of using Large Language Models in designing and coding agent based models while emphasising the importance of understanding model mechanics beyond AI-generated code.

Ever wondered how children picture the ? 💭

UNU is hosting an exhibition featuring SDGs-themed posters created by elementary and junior high school children from across Japan and abroad.

The posters on display are award-winning selections from thousands of submissions to the “Sixth Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) National Children’s Poster Contest”, co-organized by Kodomo University Kunitachi and UNU.

The exhibition hopes to inspire action for the SDGs through children’s creativity and imagination.
